Shen Lingxue sneered. "Fang Xiu, we did send people to the lottery draw center, but that was because we were afraid you'd planted people there ahead of time to rig it. This draw was completely random. What's wrong? Now that the winning numbers are different, did your little scheme fail?"
Fang Xiu studied the three of them. From their reactions, he was fairly certain they hadn't tampered with anything, so he could safely use Death Rollback.
Just then, Shen Lingxue sneered again. "Didn't you say earlier that you'd pay with your life if you guessed wrong? Heh, you don't look like you're about to pay with your life. More like you're trying to wriggle out of it."
"Don't worry. I keep my word." Fang Xiu smiled faintly. A gleaming silver Scalpel appeared in his hand the next instant.
Shen Lingxue and Yang Ming immediately shielded Wang Dehai behind them, thinking Fang Xiu was finally showing his true colors.
But to their shock, after drawing the Scalpel, Fang Xiu didn't attack them. Instead, he plunged it into his own forehead.
All three were stunned. Looking at Fang Xiu with a Scalpel sticking out of his forehead, they could only think that people who kept their word this faithfully were rare.
He really did exactly what he'd promised.
The Green Vine City Investigation Bureau.
Having returned through Death Rollback, Fang Xiu entered the building with Shen Lingxue and Li Wenhao leading the way.
This time, he repeated everything he'd done before to avoid triggering a butterfly effect.
Looking around the Investigation Bureau on his second visit, Fang Xiu smiled faintly.
It was time to demonstrate true Future Prediction.
The three walked inside, but Fang Xiu abruptly stopped.
Shen Lingxue frowned slightly. "What's wrong?"
"Two staff members will collide and fall at the corner up ahead."
"What?" Li Wenhao hadn't quite processed his words and asked reflexively.
The next second, a woman in office attire came hurrying over with a stack of documents in her arms. Just as she reached the corner, a male staff member stepped around it.
"Ow!"
With a startled cry, the two collided, scattering documents all over the floor.
Shen Lingxue and Li Wenhao were instantly stunned. They stared at Fang Xiu in disbelief.
"This... how is this possible?!"
Fang Xiu remained calm and continued walking, stepping over the scattered documents.
Shen Lingxue and Li Wenhao followed close behind, so distracted that they didn't even hear the fallen staff members greeting them.
As though he'd visited the Investigation Bureau before, Fang Xiu made his way to an office area with practiced ease. More than a dozen clerks were working at their computers inside.
Then he spoke again. "The woman in the third row from the left will get up to get coffee."
No sooner had he finished speaking than the woman picked up the cup on her desk and headed to the coffee machine, as though she'd received an order.
Behind him, Shen Lingxue and Li Wenhao grew even more shocked. It was simply inconceivable.
"The man in the middle of the second-to-last row will knock his documents off his desk."
Once again, just as his words fell, the man raised his arms to stretch, apparently feeling tired. As he stretched, he accidentally knocked the documents off his desk with a clatter.
"The first man in the first row will receive a phone call immediately. The call will last three seconds."
Shen Lingxue and Li Wenhao glanced at their watches almost simultaneously.
The next second.
Ring, ring...
The phone rang.
"Hello? Who's this?"
"I'm not buying a house or taking out a loan. You agents need to stop calling me."
After he hung up, the two raised their heads and exchanged a glance, each seeing the shock in the other's eyes.
Not a moment more or less... exactly three seconds!
They stared at the composed Fang Xiu in disbelief. At that moment, he seemed like a god walking among mortals, his words shaping reality as he casually manipulated their fates.
Fang Xiu glanced calmly at them and said, "Let's go. The lounge is this way."
With that, he seemed to take over as their host, leading the deeply stunned Shen Lingxue and Li Wenhao to the lounge.
Once there, he even took tea from the second drawer on the left of a nearby counter with practiced ease, then retrieved coffee from the third drawer.
He poured Shen Lingxue a cup of coffee and Li Wenhao a cup of green tea.
He even thoughtfully added exactly five sugar cubes to Shen Lingxue's coffee.
Shen Lingxue: "..."
Li Wenhao: "..."
Fang Xiu poured himself a cup of plain water and took a small sip before saying mildly, "There's no need to be so surprised. I told you, my eyes can see the future."
Shen Lingxue: "..."
Li Wenhao: "..."
They were so shocked that they couldn't speak. Only after taking a long while to recover did Shen Lingxue ask, "You foresaw all of that? Including where the lounge was, and even that I take five sugar cubes in my coffee?"
Fang Xiu lifted his cup, gently blew away the steam above its rim, and took a shallow sip. "What else could it be?"
The two fell into another prolonged silence.
If they'd still harbored doubts before, most of those doubts had now been dispelled.
Knowing certain information could be explained by prior investigation, but predicting the Investigation Bureau staff's next actions with perfect accuracy wasn't something research could accomplish.
"You two should go report to Wang Dehai. He's free right now."
By now, the two were somewhat numb and had no idea what to say. It was a normal reaction when faced with something beyond their understanding of the world.
They exchanged a glance, then silently stood and went to report to Wang Dehai.
After they left, Fang Xiu took out his phone and made a call.
Meanwhile, far away in the mountains near Qingbei Town, Yang Ming was driving and humming along to a song.
Suddenly, the song stopped and his phone rang.
Yang Ming picked up his phone, saw an unfamiliar number, and answered without a second thought.
"Hello? Who's this?"
Yang Ming's flippant voice carried a slightly obnoxious edge, completely unlike how he'd sounded after Bai Qi's death.
A calm, low male voice came from the other end.
"Bai Qi will die in half an hour."
Screech!
Yang Ming slammed on the brakes. The tires scraped violently against the road, leaving two long skid marks.
His carefree expression vanished instantly, and when he spoke again, his voice was unfamiliar and low.
"Who are you?"
"My name is Fang Xiu. I can predict the future. I'm currently a guest at the Investigation Bureau. If nothing unexpected happens, we'll become colleagues. I foresaw Bai Qi being killed by a Ghost in half an hour. If you go save him now, there's still time."
Yang Ming laughed in anger. "I don't care who you are. Do you realize making stupid jokes like this can get someone killed?"
"When you fought Bai Qi to decide who would become captain, you slipped him laxatives the night before. But because your ability is luck, no one suspected you."
Yang Ming's expression changed dramatically, and he blurted out, "How do you know that?! I've never told anyone that secret!"
"Remember what I'm about to say. I'll only say it once. Bai Qi is currently at an unfinished building on the outskirts of Qingbei Town. He'll encounter the Head Ghost there and fight him. But there's more than one Ghost there. A Shadow Ghost is hiding in his shadow and will ambush him at a critical moment, killing him."
With that, Fang Xiu hung up.
