Wang Xiaoliang reclined the passenger seat two notches.
Wei Zijin leaned back, her head tilted to one side, her eyelids drooping.
Her makeup had not been completely removed. A trace of eyeliner still lingered at the corner of her eye.
He had come to pick his wife up from work, and exhaustion had been written all over Wei Zijin's face the moment she got in.
"The station gave me a private office today."
Wang Xiaoliang was about to start the car, but his hand stopped.
"A private office?"
"Mm." Wei Zijin kept her eyes closed, a slight smile on her lips. "And they assigned one of the station's new interns to be my assistant."
She opened her eyes and turned to look at him.
"She graduated from Communication University. Her name's Lin Xiaohe. She's quiet and does as she's told."
Wang Xiaoliang started the car, shifted into gear, and slowly drove out of the parking lot.
A private office and a dedicated assistant. The people at the TV station were shrewd. Whoever made them money got put on a pedestal. Wei Zijin was their money tree now.
But that made it all the more important to be careful.
"Zijin, keep her out of your outside work for now."
"Mm, that's what I was thinking. Let's watch her for a while first."
Wang Xiaoliang breathed a sigh of relief. Husband and wife were on the same page. This Lin Xiaohe had been sent by the station. Who knew whether she was really there to work for her or to keep an eye on her for the bosses?
Keep her at arm's length for now. No rush.
Wei Zijin said nothing more, and her breathing gradually evened out.
Wang Xiaoliang glanced at her and raised the air-conditioning temperature by one degree.
