Wang Xiaoliang got out of the massage chair and returned its backrest to its original position.

There was no rush.

If those people downstairs wanted to gamble, let them. His first day was not the time to flip the table.

But he would remember this.

He left his office, walked halfway down the corridor, and knocked on the door marked "Personnel Section."

"Come in."

Wang Xiaoliang pushed the door open. "Hello, I'm Wang Xiaoliang, the newly appointed general manager. Could you come to my office for a moment?"

There was only one woman inside. She answered respectfully.

"Of course, Mr. Wang. I'll be right over."

Her voice was unhurried, without a single unnecessary word.

Less than two minutes later, a knock came at his door.

The woman was in her thirties, with a neatly tied ponytail and a gray-blue shirt. She was of medium height, with delicate features and no makeup, standing there looking clean and neat.

"Hello, Mr. Wang."

Wang Xiaoliang nodded. "Have a seat. Your name?"

"Cui Wanqiu."

Cui Wanqiu sat across from him, her back straight and both hands resting on her knees.

"How many people are in the Personnel Section?"

"Just me."

Just one.

Wang Xiaoliang paused. "Are you the section chief?"

"No."

"Could you bring me the employee files, employment contracts, and things like that?"

"I'll get them."

Cui Wanqiu made two trips, placing the files and contracts on his desk.

Wang Xiaoliang opened the thicker one first.

Dividers separated the departments, with a file envelope for each person, labeled with a name and number.

He pulled one out at random-the cover was a handwritten personal information form, followed by a copy of an ID card, proof of education, a medical examination form, and a professional qualification certificate.

The handwriting was neat, the entries clear.
