The host was an alumnus a few years ahead of Wang Xiaoliang. He had organized today's gathering and knew Zeng Haiyan and Wang Fen well. "We all came out of Jiang University. Put simply, we're all fellow alumni, senior and junior alike. It wasn't easy getting everyone together today." He paused. Everyone nodded at that.

That last remark made everyone laugh.
Dishes arrived one after another, and the microphone began making its way between the tables. Whoever's turn it was stood up and said a few words. Some covered every base; others sat back down after three sentences. But everyone took it seriously. No one just went through the motions.
