Wen Wan went into the inner room to change, leaving Zhou Yi and Zhao Qiushui alone.
"Forgive my bluntness, Ms. Zhao, but I really can't tell you're out on bail pending trial."
As he surveyed the villa's spacious, luxurious living room, Zhou Yi's tone carried a hint of teasing.
Even a fallen giant still had plenty left. Most of the Zhao family's assets had been frozen, but Qiushui Garden alone was worth over a hundred million.
"That's all thanks to you showing mercy and letting a helpless woman off the hook, Director Zhou," Zhao Qiushui said softly, a captivating smile appearing on her lovely face.
As before, she wore a white bathrobe, her long, snow-white legs peeking out beneath its hem. Her delicate bare feet rested on the brown floor, her red-plum-colored toes particularly eye-catching.
"To be honest, I didn't actually want to let you off." Zhou Yi shook his head. "You pulled back from the brink and saved yourself, Ms. Zhao."
He had noticed signs that Zhao Qiushui was turning against her own side. She had slipped him a note, for instance, and told him where to find that female bodyguard. Still, he had never expected her to be capable of contacting authorities two levels above them directly, securing herself a chance to survive a hopeless situation-and perhaps even walk away unscathed.
In terms of her exceptional intelligence and ruthless decisiveness, Zhao Qiushui was no less formidable than his former close ally, Li Ruoyun, another remarkable woman.
"If you don't want to let me off, Director Zhou, it's still not too late! I'm just a weak woman, after all. I couldn't possibly resist. You can do whatever you like with me!"
An unusual gleam flickered in Zhao Qiushui's beautiful brown eyes as she spoke with a pitiful look.
