Zhou Yi had never expected that opening line.

His mind raced, and in an instant, he reached a rather explosive conclusion.

Uncle Wei was making a run for it! Well, he was being transferred elsewhere!

If he remembered correctly, Uncle Wei had only been the Jiangnan Provincial Party Committee Secretary for a little over two years! Yes, he should have taken office in early 2005, around the same time as Zhou Yi's father-in-law!

And a transfer from Jiangnan Province, ranked fourth in GDP, to Southwest Province, ranked ninth, hardly looked like a promotion.

As for which of the three options he should choose, he was completely unprepared!

But that was all right. When in doubt, ask your father-in-law, and you can't go wrong!

He could just call his father-in-law in a little while.

Seeing Zhou Yi's hesitation, Wei Siqi guessed what he was really thinking.

"Secretary Wei, I'll have to ask Uncle Jian about this." Sure enough, Zhou Yi gave an answer that came as no great surprise.

"There's no one else here. No need to use my official title." Wei Siqi smiled gently.

It looked like he wouldn't be able to lure this nephew of his away!

And that made sense. An uncle simply wasn't as close as a father-in-law.

"Uncle Wei, when are you leaving for Southwest Province?" Zhou Yi obediently changed his form of address and asked with concern.

"Next month, probably," Wei Siqi replied with a smile.

This round involved new provincial Party committee secretaries taking office in six provinces. Three of those involved transfers of incumbent secretaries, and he was one of them.

There was no denying that this sudden reshuffle had temporarily disrupted his plans to move into the central leadership. Behind it, certain people's intention to slow his advance was all too obvious.
