Executive Deputy Director Hu Chunqiu; Deputy Directors Min Aiwu, Zhong Jiaqing, Zhang Yu, and Chen Gang; Political Department Director Wang Qifeng; General Office Director Wu Qiong; and Discipline Inspection Secretary Tan Yongjun. Eight people in all.
The director was warm and easygoing as he spoke with the Party committee members, as though they were simply chatting about everyday matters.
Executive Deputy Director Hu Chunqiu had a ruddy complexion and was full of energy. With his booming voice and habitual hand gestures, he looked more like the public security director than the newly appointed director himself.
Deputy Director Min Aiwu was the exact opposite. He looked listless, and his voice was weak. After briefly introducing the criminal investigation and public order work under his supervision, he swayed in his seat, looking as though he might fall asleep at any moment.
"Deputy Director Min hasn't been well lately, but he's kept working despite his illness!" General Office Director Wu Qiong explained on Min Aiwu's behalf.
She was the only woman among the eight Party committee members. She was also the youngest, at just thirty-seven, and quite beautiful.
Chen Gang, the deputy director in charge of the Anti-Drug Detachment, was a gray-haired man who looked rather old. Every so often, he studied the newly appointed public security director with a peculiar gaze. Even when the director noticed him staring, he showed no intention of stopping.
"Director Chen, is there something wrong with me?" Director Zhou finally asked with a smile.
Chen Gang's expression remained unchanged as he answered in a slightly hoarse voice, "I was just thinking that someone as young and handsome as you must be popular with the ladies. So, if you don't mind my asking, do you have a girlfriend?"
"Haha!"
A ripple of laughter immediately spread through the meeting
