Jincheng Municipal People's Hospital.
Min Aiwu lay in his hospital bed, staring fixedly at his diagnostic report.
"The X-ray findings are as follows: a large, high-density opacity is visible in the left upper lung, with a clearly defined lower margin and an indistinct upper margin... no spiculation is observed. CT examination suggests possible tuberculosis of the left upper lung; a space-occupying lesion cannot be ruled out..."
In plain English-the chances of a misdiagnosis were extremely high!
During Min Aiwu's original physical examination, his X-ray findings had resembled peripheral lung cancer, his main clinical symptom had been a cough, and repeated sputum tests for tuberculosis bacteria had all come back negative. There had therefore been insufficient evidence to diagnose tuberculosis, and the diagnosis had been lung cancer instead.
But after his injury had landed him in the hospital, examinations at Jincheng Municipal People's Hospital indicated that Deputy Director Min likely had tuberculosis.
The hospital was not particularly surprised by a misdiagnosis like Min Aiwu's. According to its statistics, of the thirty-seven patients admitted with lung cancer over the past two years, no fewer than eight had been confirmed as misdiagnoses through CT scans, fiberoptic bronchoscopy, and pathological examinations.
Min Aiwu's tears would not stop falling. He was only human, after all, and his first reaction on learning of the misdiagnosis was, That was close. I nearly got myself killed in the line of duty!
Who would want to die if they could live a good life?
At that moment, Min Aiwu was overwhelmed with emotion. He had the strange feeling that some mysterious force had appeared, compelling a supreme being who controlled his fate to change its mind and pull him back from the path to death.
"Brother Min, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? I'll get the doctor!" Ou Jinliang
