It was admissions season.
A long line still stretched outside Shrek Academy's gates. Young students held recommendation letters from city lords, most accompanied by expensively dressed parents.
The crowd was noisy and bustling.
Bei Bei stared at the scene, momentarily dazed.
He remembered how, years ago, Tang Ya had burst into his heart like a lively sprite in much the same way. Sadly...
"Senior Bei Bei, someone's causing trouble."
A voice pulled him back to reality. Before him stood a young man in the green uniform of the Outer Court, looking somewhat awkward as he pointed into the distance.
In the admissions line, a middle-aged nobleman accompanying his son looked hostile toward the students at Shrek's registration desk, muttering something under his breath.
Bei Bei frowned slightly at the sight.
After the academy rescued him from the Sun Moon Empire, he had gone straight into the Inner Court without even taking an assessment. Today, the senior female student originally responsible for admissions had something come up, so he had been dragged over to do the grunt work.
That said, he did not actually mind this sort of task.
Watching those so-called nobles and sect powerhouses-figures of such power and influence that a stamp of their feet could set off an earthquake outside-bow and scrape at Shrek Academy filled him, as a member of the academy, with a faint sense of pride.
Now that someone actually dared cause trouble at Shrek's gates, Bei Bei was naturally displeased. The registration desk was currently staffed by only a few Outer Court disciples, the strongest of whom barely stood at the peak of Soul Elder. Without a teacher to hold the fort, he had to step forward and uphold their authority.
"Hello, I'm Bei Bei, the person in charge of Shrek's admissions this year.
