Grudges Between Immortal Kings, Fusing with the Heavenly Heart, and the Human Dao Pinnacle
Clearly, Emperor Bone Brother was somewhat surprised. He had not expected this female Immortal King to agree so readily, without the slightest hesitation.
She had agreed before he even had a chance to deliver the speech he had prepared!
He had even used his Immortal Emperor-level power to divine the matter. Though he was currently hanging on by a thread, he could still determine that this female Immortal King did indeed have a close male friend.
Their relationship had been very good, but they did not seem to have had much contact over the past few hundred thousand years.
"I didn't expect you to agree so readily. I heard you have a close male confidant in the Immortal Realm. Is that true?" Emperor Bone Brother asked.
After all, he was finding his future disciple a formidable Dao companion who could also serve as a bodyguard. He had to vet every aspect of the arrangement and, at the very least, find out exactly what was going on.
"It seems you know a great deal, Senior. As expected of an Immortal Emperor. We were indeed close confidants in the past, and we even came close to becoming Dao companions.
"But various twists of fate kept us from ending up together. By now, it has been a very long time since we last had any contact," the Heavenly Phoenix Immortal King said with a sigh.
"Oh! How did that happen?" Emperor Bone Brother asked.
"The Immortal King I knew was named Ao Sheng. We met when we first began cultivating. Back then, I was still an Immortal Phoenix in the Void Dao Realm.
"He was a prodigy of the Ao Clan. (Honestly, I feel the surname Ao has something to do with the dragon race, but the original text never said what race this fellow belonged to, so let's just leave it at that!)
"We were both among the greatest prodigies of that era, and we helped verify and refine each other's cultivation. I devoted myself to pursuing the Great Dao, while he devoted himself to pursuing power and influence.
"We broke through one realm after another, becoming Supremes, True Immortals, and then Immortal Kings. I kept waiting for him to ask for my hand, but when we were in the Supreme Realm, he brushed the matter aside, saying cultivation came first.
"Even after we became True Immortals and Immortal Kings, he still made no move. Then, a million years ago, after advancing to Pinnacle Immortal King, he actually proposed that I become his principal wife while he married more than a dozen women from other races as concubines.
"I was furious and refused. I thought he would have a change of heart, but instead, he went back and immediately took more than a dozen female cultivators in the Supreme Realm as concubines.
"He then had children and founded his Immortal King family.
"Since then, although we remained friends in name, we have never had any further dealings," the Heavenly Phoenix Immortal King said.
In truth, their feelings had been mutual, but for various reasons, she had become Ao Sheng's unattainable white moonlight.
Yet producing offspring was extraordinarily difficult for an Immortal King-level expert. That was why Ao Sheng had proposed making her his principal wife while taking more than a dozen other women as concubines. The more women there were, the greater the chance of having descendants.
Even so, offspring of Immortal King-level experts were exceedingly rare, and most were descendants they had produced before becoming Immortal Kings.
Having children after becoming an Immortal King generally required a vast disparity in strength between the two parents. It was almost impossible for two people in the same realm.
Nearby, the Golden Blade Immortal King, who was studying the first two stone steles, revealed a deeply amused smile when he heard this.
The pair had not taken any measures to conceal their conversation, so those nearby could hear them as well. After all, the matter would be announced later anyway. Emperor Bone Brother had no need to hide it.
Most of what the Heavenly Phoenix Immortal King had said was true, but a small portion was not. She actually had two other friends who were Pinnacle Immortal Kings.
They were Tai Shi and Yuan Chu. Three men and one woman had traveled and cultivated together, and the result was easy enough to imagine: the only woman would naturally have been pampered the most.
In fact, the other two Immortal Kings had also wanted to court this female Immortal King of the Immortal Phoenix Clan. The three men had even competed with one another for a time. (The author thinks this was the most likely reason the three ambushed Willow Deity. Otherwise, it is hard to imagine what sort of hatred could make three Pinnacle Immortal Kings risk ambushing a giant.)
Moreover, it was said that women of the Immortal Phoenix Clan gained a very special ability after becoming Immortal Kings, though he did not know what it was!
Its effects were supposedly so heaven-defying that even Immortal King-level experts coveted it. No wonder an Immortal Emperor had chosen her as a match for his disciple.
With two major realms separating them, a female Immortal King still had a considerable chance of bearing children with someone in the human Dao domain.
He simply did not know what their bloodline would be like. Though this young man was a First Generation, he appeared to be an ordinary human rather than a member of some special race.
The Old Heavenly Horned Ant sighed nearby. He had originally wanted to pair his daughter with Qin Feng!
After all, he was a Supreme expert of the Primeval Ancient Realm, and producing descendants was important. Besides, Qin Feng's potential was not limited to becoming a Supreme.
He would become an Immortal King at the very least, and there was even a strong chance that he could break beyond the king realm and become an emperor.
His daughter was not yet a hundred years old and was also a Young Supreme. He had never expected a female Immortal King to beat her to it.
"I see. Since you have agreed, you must devote yourself wholeheartedly to my disciple from now on. You must not harbor any divided loyalties. Do you understand?" Emperor Bone Brother said.
"Rest assured, Senior. As his wife, I will naturally be devoted to him. However, there is something else you should know.
"I may have to remain in the Primeval Ancient Realm from now on. We cannot return to the Immortal Domain, but this world is already broken.
"If my husband cultivates in this world, his prospects will be limited. He may not even be able to become an immortal at all. This world's Great Dao has already shattered." Her meaning was clear: she wanted to see whether this senior could send them back to the Immortal Domain.
"You needn't worry about that. Since you have agreed, just support your husband properly from now on. There is no need for you to ask about or concern yourself with anything else," Emperor Bone Brother said, waving a hand.
He actually had another idea as well: his main body could comprehend the complete immortal Dao laws and follow the conventional path, while his clone could attempt a different method of cultivation.
By now, Qin Feng had finished fusing with the Heavenly Heart Seal. A terrifying aura erupted from his entire body, and the expressions of all three Immortal King-level experts changed at once.
"This... this is the human Dao pinnacle! And there's even the origin essence of the world Great Dao?"
"What an incredible blessing. His combat strength is already not far beneath that of a True Immortal."
Naturally, Immortal King-level experts could sense just how powerful fusion with the Heavenly Heart Seal was.
Once he sensed that his disciple had awakened, Emperor Bone Brother summoned Qin Feng.
"Disciple, I have already agreed with her that the two of you will perform the wedding rites here today. I will bear witness for you," Emperor Bone said.
With an Immortal Emperor personally bearing witness, this marriage would be recognized by the Great Dao of heaven and earth.
