As they talked, Ash had already come downstairs.

He had slid down the banister.

"Hey, Su, can you let me see your Pokémon again?"

"I'm glad you want to see my Pokémon, but I don't like the way you address me."

Su Bai glanced at Ash.

Ash absolutely loved Pokémon. Knowing Su Bai was a Pokémon Trainer and must have plenty of Pokémon with him, he struggled for a while before finally forcing out a few words.

"Big Brother Su."

"That's better. We'll go to Professor Oak's Laboratory in a bit, and I'll show you my Pokémon."

After saying that, Su Bai glanced at Delia.

"Would that be all right, Miss Delia?"

"Of course. Thank you for taking the trouble."

Delia stood up and gave Su Bai a slight bow.

Su Bai hardly dared accept it and shifted slightly to one side.

This really was an enviable place.

All I have to do is say I'm a good person, and you actually believe me.

And there really were so many good people in this world. As long as you maintained the most basic awareness of personal safety, you hardly had to be wary of anyone.

After a little more conversation, Ash started making a fuss, insisting that his contest with Gary wasn't over yet. His clamoring gave Su Bai a headache, so he had no choice but to say goodbye to Delia and head to Professor Oak's Laboratory with him.

On the way to the laboratory, Su Bai asked Ash a few questions.

"Ash, how well do you know Professor Oak?"

"Pretty well, I guess. I've been to Professor Oak's summer camp twice."

Ash told Su Bai that he mostly spent time with Gary. He knew Professor Oak well, too, but they didn't actually talk that much.

That made sense.
