Ch. 41Wildfire

Su Bai mourned losing the reserved Eevee and continued caring for Pokémon at the Day Care while building up credits and resources. On Saturday night, a massive wildfire erupted in the Ten Directions Mountains, and Su Bai and the others began gathering Water- and Ground-type Pokémon to help fight it.

  • Su Bai begged Qi Shijun to let him have the reserved Eevee, but Qi Shijun refused; after several days of visiting, Su Bai learned Eevee’s Trainer had taken it away.
  • Gengar learned Rain Dance, Drain Punch, and Night Shade, while Pikachu learned Thunder, and Su Bai’s random accumulation reached 76/100.
  • Su Bai traded with Snover for fruit and noticed the sky glowing red, the air smelling of smoke, and Pokémon reacting fearfully.
  • Su Bai saw that the Ten Directions Mountains were engulfed in a huge fire as emergency crews and Pokémon rushed toward the blaze.
  • The Pokémon Day Care teacher, Hua Silai, and Su Bai gathered the Water- and Ground-type Pokémon after the teacher fired blue and yellow signal flares.

Ch. 42Rescue

As a wildfire threatened the city, Su Bai joined the rescue effort despite being told to stay behind. He found Jessie, James, Cassidy, Butch, and Meowth trapped in the flames, then suspected they had caused the fire and turned to leave when they began their familiar introduction.

  • Hua Silai and the Breeding Teacher flew off to fight the wildfire, while Su Bai rode Altaria after them to help.
  • Su Bai met Zi Shang, Ru Meng, and Zhang Zhi among the volunteers, and watched rescue teams and powerful Trainers work to contain the fire and save Pokémon.
  • Gengar sensed at least three or four people trapped in a burning area, so Su Bai landed and followed it into the woods with Pikachu.
  • Su Bai found Jessie, James, Cassidy, Butch, and Meowth huddled together and learned that Jessie and James could speak the Dragon Nation's language.
  • Jessie and James began their Team Rocket introduction, but a falling tree interrupted them, and Su Bai suspected they had started the fire and decided to leave them behind.

Ch. 43A narrow escape

Su Bai rescued Team Rocket and Cassidy and Butch from the wildfire in Ten Directions Mountains, then uncovered how their feud had started the blaze. He altered Cassidy and Butch’s memories and left them for Wang Officer Jenny to arrest.

  • Su Bai used Pikachu’s Surf to soak everyone, then sent Team Rocket blasting off with Thunderbolt so Gengar could carry Cassidy, Butch, and him out of the fire.
  • After reaching safety, Su Bai ordered Gengar to use Hypnosis on Cassidy and Butch and questioned them about the fire.
  • Cassidy and Butch confessed that Dr. Namba had sent them to collect samples and that Cassidy had started the blaze by sabotaging Jessie’s Pokémon Attraction Machine.
  • Su Bai had Gengar alter Cassidy and Butch’s memories to erase his involvement and make them remember being rescued by a wild Gengar.
  • Gengar dropped Cassidy and Butch near Wang Officer Jenny, who suspected them of starting the wildfire and ordered the Growlithe to tackle them.

Ch. 44Legendary Pokémon Trial Card

Su Bai accepted a dangerous system quest and used a Legendary Pokémon Trial Card to summon Lugia, which began extinguishing the wildfire. As the rain put out the flames, a golden-red silhouette flew toward the scene along a rainbow.

  • Su Bai watched Officer Jenny arrest Cassidy and Butch, while Qi Shijun and the Pokémon struggled to contain the spreading fire.
  • Su Bai pleaded with the system for help, and it merged two quests into Cute and Charming Protagonist, requiring him to earn 500 academic credits before graduation.
  • Su Bai accepted the quest and used his free randomization attempt to obtain and activate a Legendary Pokémon Trial Card.
  • Lugia appeared, summoned dark clouds, and extinguished much of the wildfire with wind and rain.
  • A rainbow pierced the darkness, and a gigantic golden-red silhouette flew toward the gathered people.

Ch. 45A Gathering of Legendary Pokémon

Ho-Oh appeared after Lugia extinguished the wildfire, and the two Legendary Pokémon focused on Su Bai before leaving. After the disaster, Su Bai learned he had received the Viridian Force and titles from both Pokémon, though he wondered why Ho-Oh had taken an interest in him.

  • Ho-Oh arrived and exchanged a telepathic conversation with Lugia while Qi Shijun and Su Bai worried about the Legendary Pokémon.
  • Ho-Oh and Lugia looked toward Su Bai, then flew away after the wildfire-stricken forest began regrowing beneath Ho-Oh’s rainbow light.
  • Su Bai returned to J University with Altaria and slept until the search-and-rescue operation ended the next day.
  • The system awarded Su Bai forest’s favor, which it identified as the Viridian Force, for gratitude directed toward Lugia after the fire.
  • The system gave Su Bai the Pseudo-Rainbow Hero and Pseudo-Silver Wing Hero titles, and he wondered why Ho-Oh had noticed him.

Ch. 46One punch

Su Bai visited J University's Pokémon Day Care and found little Eevee blind and mistreated by its owner. After learning that the man had caused Eevee's blindness, Su Bai attacked him.

  • Su Bai received confirmation that he had registered for an amateur tournament in L City and planned to earn credits through competition.
  • Su Bai went to J University's Pokémon Day Care and sensed little Eevee inside.
  • Su Bai found Eevee locked in a dirty, cramped cage while its owner, Young Master Liu, argued with manager Zhang Shu over a refund.
  • Young Master Liu said his friend’s Scolipede had blinded Eevee with Venoshock, and Su Bai punched him and tackled him to the floor.

Ch. 47We accept mediation

Su Bai's fight with Liu Feng led to a mediation at the Pokémon Law Enforcement Division, where Qi Shijun forced Liu Feng to sign an agreement by exposing his offenses. Liu Dahai left with his son, then promised to enter him in a tournament so he could challenge Su Bai.

  • Su Bai recalled beating Liu Feng and having Growlithe learn Thrash before a customer called the police and brought him to the division.
  • Qi Shijun argued that Su Bai had acted in self-defense after Liu Feng tried to take Growlithe by force, then used Machamp to intimidate Liu Dahai.
  • Qi Shijun threatened to expose Liu Feng's Pokémon abuse and attempted abandonment of Eevee, as well as the family's repeated off-leash dog walking.
  • Qi Shijun reminded Liu Dahai that Su Bai was an orphaned child of fallen heroes, and Liu Feng signed the mediation agreement under his father's orders.
  • After leaving the division, Liu Feng demanded revenge, so Liu Dahai promised to enter him in a tournament he was sponsoring that weekend.

Ch. 48Pokémon deserved better

Su Bai woke from a dream about marrying Cynthia and left the police station with Qi Shijun after joking with him and Wang Officer Jenny. He returned to J University to visit Eevee, whose blindness and fear of humans made Su Bai seem like the only person able to care for it.

  • Su Bai woke on Officer Jenny's sofa, and Qi Shijun teased him about dreaming of marrying Cynthia before taking him away.
  • Su Bai realized Qi Shijun and Wang Officer Jenny seemed interested in each other and suggested a restaurant for their dinner date.
  • Su Bai collected Pikachu and Growlithe from the Pokémon Day Care, while Gengar followed in his shadow, and returned to J University.
  • The Breeding Teacher told Su Bai that Eevee was in its usual place and that the teachers believed Eevee was already as good as his.
  • Su Bai sent Pikachu, Growlithe, and Old Ghost ahead to see Eevee, then finished feeding the Pokémon in the breeding area.

Ch. 49Healing Eevee

Su Bai calmed the frightened Eevee and used Gengar’s Hypnosis to treat its poisoned eyes with Viridian Force. Eevee’s sight returned, and it began to trust Su Bai again as he left for L City.

  • Su Bai reached the ruined Flower Garden, where Eevee hid in a burrow while Pikachu tried to coax it out and Growlithe tried to charge in.
  • Su Bai soothed Pikachu and Growlithe, then gave Eevee food and let it remain in the burrow while he trained the others.
  • After Eevee still refused to emerge, Su Bai had Gengar use Hypnosis and discovered that Eevee’s eyes were intact but clouded by poison.
  • Su Bai carefully treated Eevee’s eyes with Viridian Force while it slept, and Eevee dreamed of finding Su Bai and its Pokémon companions in a green light.
  • Eevee awoke able to see again, ate the food Su Bai had left, and Su Bai boarded a train to L City with Pikachu.

Ch. 50Golden Stone Gym

Su Bai traveled to L City to challenge the Golden Stone Gym and met its Trainer, Shen Yu, while sharing a meal with her without realizing who she was. The chapter ended as Shen Yu asked whether he had a girlfriend before their battle.

  • Su Bai arrived in L City, rested at the Pokémon Center, and headed out with Pikachu and Growlithe before his scheduled Gym challenge.
  • At a crowded night-market stall, Su Bai shared a table with Xiao Yuer, who ate a huge meal and offered oysters to Growlithe.
  • Xiao Yuer told Su Bai she worked as a lifeguard at Golden Beach and then left after finishing her food.
  • Su Bai walked to the Golden Stone Gym and recognized Xiao Yuer as its Gym Trainer, Shen Yu.
  • Su Bai asked Shen Yu to send out her Pokémon for their Gym battle, but she first asked whether he had a girlfriend.
