"What a lucky find after all that searching. I thought it would take quite a bit of effort to find this young lady," Yanqing said.
"Oh? Now you've piqued this old man's curiosity... go on, how did you come to know each other?" Huaiyan smiled brightly. Was it because he enjoyed gossip, liked teasing children, or was happy that his granddaughter had found friends her own age?
"Some Borisin escaped and caused trouble at Starskiff Haven, and Yunli helped out," Jiang Yu explained to Huaiyan with a grin. "But when she left, she took my Black Cleave with her."
Yunli blinked and looked at Jiang Yu. "Oh, so you're that Demon Sword's owner."
"Yes." Jiang Yu nodded. "So could you give Black Cleave back to me?"
"I'm afraid not," Yunli refused.
"Really? Then I'll lend it to you a little longer so you can keep studying it," Jiang Yu said generously.
After all, even without its special abilities, Black Cleave was an exceptionally fine sword.
Thinking it over, Huaiyan was an Artifex, and Yunli was both his granddisciple and granddaughter. She surely knew a great deal about forging, too.
Even the Luofu's current Artifex couldn't make sense of the techniques used to forge Black Cleave, so it was perfectly natural for her to want to study it longer.
Jiang Yu saw the matter in very simple terms.
He was even a little excited. If either Yunli or Huaiyan figured out how Black Cleave had been forged, he could ask them to use the Stellarons he had to make a few more fine swords like it.
Even if they hadn't absorbed the hopes of all living beings as Black Cleave had, they would surely still be exceptional swords.
He still remembered that Yanqing wanted a sword like Black Cleave, too.
