After spending two busy days away, Shawn returned to his normal school life, without choosing any electives.
His idea of normal, however, made life anything but normal for everyone else.
In Charms class.
Professor Flitwick praised him delightedly.
"Perfect! Shawn's mastery of the Impediment Jinx is simply superb. Even I couldn't have done it better. Five points to Slytherin."
Shawn looked eager to learn. "Professor, could you explain the casting techniques a Legendary Wizard uses for the Impediment Jinx?"

In Transfiguration class.
Professor McGonagall watched the crow circling overhead and offered her assessment with satisfaction.
"Very good. Shawn was the first to turn his drinking glass into a crow. Its eyes are lively and natural, and every feather is lifelike. The rest of you should learn from him. Five points to Slytherin."
Once again, Shawn looked eager to learn. "Professor, how could we make this transfigured crow act independently once it leaves the range of a wizard's perception?"

Professor Sprout wiped her muddy hands and looked at the exceptionally healthy herb Shawn had tended, generous with her praise.
"Oh, this is simply unbelievable.
Shawn, your understanding of Dragon Blood Grass is practically on par with Dumbledore's. Clearly, you've been studying the books I mailed you."
Yet again, Shawn looked eager to learn. "Professor, I have a few more theories about the medicinal properties of Dragon Blood Grass. For instance, if Dragon Blood Grass and Moonlight Vine grow together... ... Professor, do you think that's right?"
Sprout sank so deeply into thought that she forgot to continue teaching.
