Shawn calmly watched the enormous Fiendfyre serpent raging in the hall. Since he had dared to act here, he had naturally come prepared.
As it happened, although he did not know Finite Incantatem, a lightning net formed from a massive concentration of lightning element could suppress Fiendfyre.
Lightning could counter evil.
It could not overwhelm Fiendfyre a hundredfold like a natural predator or frighten it into retreat, but lightning element could cancel out the curse properties within Fiendfyre.

He still had twenty Playing Cards storing magical energy inside the Ring.
By the time the Fiendfyre serpent destroyed the two blue water pythons, his serpent-catching lightning net was ready.
"Close!"
Shawn thrust out his hand and clenched his fist hard. The enormous purple net stretching up to the vaulted ceiling began contracting rapidly, exerting tremendous pressure.
As it shrank, its densely woven electrical threads grew increasingly solid. Purple radiance flowed along them, arcs of electricity leaping in a dazzling display.
Crackle! Crackle!
"Screee!"
The moment the lightning net touched the fiery serpent as it shrieked toward the ceiling, a violent clash erupted.
Boom!
The giant serpent struggled to straighten its body, but the pressure slowly forced it to bend. The Fiendfyre composing its immense form rapidly dissolved as well.
At the point of impact, vast amounts of magical energy converged through the interconnected electrical threads from every direction. The net also drew lightning element from the air.
The Fiendfyre serpent fought like a cornered beast, still lashing out fiercely and desperately, attacking the purple lightning net from every angle.
Flames surged with every lunge and sweep of its tail,
