"Something like that actually exists? What are you after? Wouldn't devouring me have been the right choice?"
Thanos was still Thanos. Hundreds, even thousands of years of warfare had ensured that he was no clueless fool.
After hearing Mercer's explanation, he immediately realized that using the blacklight virus to devour him should have been the proper approach.
Why use the blacklight virus to heal him, and even grant him a small portion of its abilities?
He asked the question, but Mercer offered no answer. He merely smiled at him.
Seeing that Mercer had no intention of explaining, Thanos rubbed his ridged chin and said, "What do you want me to help you with?"
"Clever. Dealing with smart people is always a pleasure." Mercer nodded in satisfaction.
His Cloud Heaven had only just been established, and he was desperate for talent. Thanos was an exceptional military commander, strategist, and powerful warrior.
Rather than make an enemy of someone like him, it would be better to bring him into the fold.
Killing him would be such a waste.
"What do you say?" Mercer asked.
"What do I say..." Thanos jabbed his thumb against his chest in frustration. "You gave me this blacklight virus as a means of controlling me. Do I even have a choice?"
"Heh. You clearly understand, so there's no need for me to say more."
Mercer waved his hand, and the space around them reverted to the empty expanse of the universe.
Nearby, an enormous warship hung in space, not daring to move an inch.
