Looking at the card in his hand, Mercer thought this had to be the most powerful Hero Card he had ever received from the system.
It isn't even a Marvel superhero. It's one from DC! Mercer thought.
The Marvel Universe and the DC Universe were the two great superhero universes.
And Superman was the top dog of the DC Universe, as well as the Justice League.
Unlike Thor's role in the Avengers, Superman was practically a cheat code in the Justice League.
If his character hadn't been written with kindness toward humanity, an ordinary person in his place wouldn't be Superman. He would be Homelander.
Who would put up with public pressure from ordinary people when they had powers like those? The entire world would have to bow before him.
There were many eras of Superman, and the Silver Age version was the strongest of them all.
Mercer didn't have that bone-deep kindness. With these powers, he could become the most demonic Superman in the world.

Mercer slapped the card forward, and its powers attached themselves to him.
Mercer's body began undergoing a fundamental transformation.
The Blacklight Virus had still been a product of Earth, and conventional weapons could inflict some damage.
But now that Mercer had fused with Silver Age Superman's powers, he was no longer human at all.
He was a fusion of a Kryptonian and the Blacklight Virus!
With his body strengthened by the Blacklight Virus, Mercer had previously been able to use, at most, seventy percent of his strength.
Any more than that, and his flesh might not have withstood it.
But his Superman physique now perfectly solved every problem.
Mercer could truly be called a god now!
He could even float in midair without using Spatial Power. This was Superman's ability to fly.
