"It's here! The legends were true-the Hundred Broken Mountains really do form a realm of their own, and they're about to open!" an elder roared, his voice shaking the wilderness.
In an instant, all of Broken Void City erupted into chaos. Everyone sprang into action, looking toward the surging chaos, rubbing their hands in anticipation, their eyes blazing.
At the same time, the ruined altar in the city, a relic stained with the blood of saints, emitted a faint light. It seemed to have come alive, as though reminiscing about ancient times.
"No more waiting! Get inside now!"
Creatures poured in, each vying to be first. Whether primordial remnants, pureblooded fierce beasts, or humans, all brought out their treasured artifacts and divine abilities, hoping to seize the initiative.
The city was a sea of chaos. Treasured lights flew everywhere, auspicious radiance scattered in all directions, and a great battle nearly broke out.
"Let's go in too." Xi Yue walked side by side with Qing Shuang. Rather than rushing forward to compete, they leisurely brought up the rear.
To them, entering early or late made little difference. There were only a handful of good things in the Hundred Broken Mountains anyway. They were right there; they weren't going to run away.
There were many passages here. Different routes would transport them to different regions of the Hundred Broken Mountains. Roads connected those regions, so creatures entering through different passages would encounter one another sooner or later.
"The spiritual essence really is much denser." Looking at the spiritual essence around them, so thick it nearly condensed into spiritual liquid, Xi Yue felt considerably more at ease.
It was easy to go from frugality to luxury, but hard to go from luxury to frugality.
After spending so long in an environment like Boundless Heaven, being in the Lower Realm was a peculiar form of torture. It made her feel as though she were suffocating, like a fish out of water.
"Oh? Isn't that White Tiger?" Xi Yue looked at White Tiger in the distance, currently only the size of a bucket, and felt a flicker of interest.
"Qing Shuang, go grab that little tiger." Xi Yue waved her hand, then looked at the young maid beside her.
She made no effort to lower her voice, drawing repeated glances from everyone nearby, their eyes filled with astonishment.
This was an important figure from Xiling Beast Mountain, the offspring of a primordial remnant. He always stood high above others-who would dare provoke him? Had this "young man" lost his mind?
Everyone cast sympathetic looks her way, convinced this "young man" was certain to die. Even the girl beside her would be taken as that important figure's servant.
"Human, you're courting death!" White Tiger roared, ferocity blazing in his eyes as terrifying killing intent burst from his golden vertical pupils.
His enormous, blood-red maw parted slightly, revealing bloodstained white teeth that sent chills through the onlookers.
An invisible pressure enveloped the surroundings. Some spectators could not help falling to their knees, trembling all over, unable to muster the slightest will to resist.
"Damn it! Why provoke him for no reason? Now look-we're the ones caught in this undeserved disaster!" someone said through gritted teeth, glaring at Xi Yue as though he wanted to devour her.
"Roar!"
His roar shook the mountain forests, his savage might sweeping in all directions. A crimson beam suddenly erupted from his mouth, streaking across the sky like a chi dragon, wrapped in myriad bolts of divine lightning. Clouds churned overhead as though the heavens were about to collapse.
Qing Shuang stepped forward. Divine radiance suddenly burst from her palm, forming an enormous hand that blotted out the sky. It struck down from on high, shattering the crimson beam before continuing unabated toward White Tiger to suppress him.
White Tiger's pupils contracted sharply, his eyes filled with disbelief. He was the offspring of a mighty primordial remnant, yet his attack had been neutralized so easily.
A towering rage followed. He had his own pride, and his heart was filled with arrogance. She was merely a frail human-why couldn't he subdue her?
Whoosh!
Light shone from his entire body as he instantly swelled to several dozen zhang in length. Like an ancient deity, he now stood upright, his sharp claws gleaming with an eerie red light. With a sudden swipe, he unleashed two blazing streaks.
The divine streaks pierced the sky, capable of cutting through anything. With peerless sharpness, they slashed upward to intercept the enormous hand!
Boom!
The divine streaks crashed into the enormous hand with ringing metallic clangs, like mighty bells reverberating through the clouds!
Then his entire body shot through the air, turning into a blood-red thunderbolt as he pounced at Qing Shuang. He opened his abyss-like maw, intending to swallow her alive.
Light scattered everywhere. Runes flew and interwove in the air like a dazzling display of fireworks, leaving everyone dumbfounded.
"Who exactly is she? How can she contend with an important figure from Xiling Beast Mountain?" someone cried. After all, he was the offspring of a primordial remnant, a true pureblooded creature, yet a human was actually suppressing him!
It was terrifying. No one could do such a thing. As far as they knew, only the Double-Pupiled One could possibly display such combat prowess.
"Who exactly are you?" White Tiger was both shocked and furious. He discovered that the person before him possessed a body so powerful that even his own fell short.
His body was already covered in wounds. A gaping hole had even been torn through his shoulder from front to back, sending sprays of blood flying.
Yet when his attacks struck Qing Shuang, they were like clay oxen entering the sea, vanishing without a trace and accomplishing nothing.
What terrified him even more was her calm, effortless demeanor. It seemed she had not used her full strength at all. He could scarcely imagine how miserable his fate would be if she truly went all out!
Run!
She's too terrifying. There's absolutely no way to fight her!
At that thought, he suddenly wrenched himself free, burning his divine power madly without regard for the cost. He turned into a streak of white light, trying to escape.
But that first palm descended like the collapse of the heavens, like myriad worlds pressing down. Runes interwove within it, forming strands of Order Divine Chains that wrapped around his body.
He struggled fiercely, trying to break free of the restraints, but it was useless. The divine chains bound him and sealed the magical power within his body. All he could do now was bare his teeth in utter disgrace.
"Little tiger, why run? Being allowed to serve my young... master is your good fortune." Qing Shuang whispered beside his ear, like the murmuring of a demon from the netherworld.
Only then did the people around them awaken as if from a dream. They scrambled awkwardly to their feet, staring at the scene in disbelief. Suppressed with a single palm-it was too surreal!
Many looked at Qing Shuang with eyes full of reverence. They fell silent as cicadas in winter, not daring to speak loudly.
Even more terrifying was the "young man" beside her, whom she called her young master. How illustrious must her status be, and how frightening must her combat prowess be!
"That's terrifying. Is she really not some monstrous beast in human form?" someone still managed to muster the courage to whisper.
Though quiet, the words still reached Qing Shuang's ears, making her bare her teeth. Still, she merely glared at the speaker and did not attack.
Realizing he had said the wrong thing, the man hurriedly apologized. This was no joke-she was a ruthless figure who could tear primordial remnants apart with her bare hands. He really must have had a death wish.
"Bare your teeth again, and I'll twist your head off." Xi Yue looked at the little tiger before her, so wild and
untamed, a smile on her lips as she spoke the most dangerous words in the gentlest tone.
White Tiger was instantly startled, alarm bells ringing in his heart. He suddenly realized that she was every bit as savage. Those were not idle words-she really would do it.
He immediately reined in all his ferocity, hanging his head and letting even his tail droop. In an instant, he became as docile as a large cat, even affectionately rubbing against the hem of Xi Yue's clothes.
Then she sent him flying with a kick. A tigress would have been one thing, but a male tiger actually dared to be so affectionate? Truly, even people and dogs would loathe him.
