He Xian continued onward. After traveling tens of thousands of miles farther, he heard the thunder of charging cavalry pursuing him from behind. A group of more than a dozen experts had chased him here, their eyes scarlet like those of savage beasts, their murderous intent surging to the heavens.
It was as though they had locked onto He Xian's aura.
Clearly, these people had a safe route to follow. They did not need to proceed cautiously and could gallop all the way here at top speed.
Otherwise, their speed could never have matched He Xian's, and they would never have caught up.
"Someone from the first squad?" Across from him, their leader stared coldly at He Xian.
He Xian did not blurt out a denial.
He stared at the group.
"Make enemies of us, and you won't be able to move a single step in this forbidden zone," the leader shouted. Behind him, more than a dozen people drew their weapons.
Another squad of Heavenly Gods. What a lavish lineup!
"Not a single step?" He Xian tilted his head and asked in puzzlement.
"My instincts tell me you're strong, but you're still no great figure. You have yet to mature, and you will surely die," the leader said. The fierce beast beneath him roared, its eyes blood-red as well.
"Is that so? Go ahead and try attacking me," He Xian snapped.
"Since you could kill the first squad's grand commander, with a sect master holding the fort, we're no match for you. But you still won't survive," the leader said. Then he chanted in an ancient tongue, as though performing a sacrificial rite.
"We respectfully welcome your arrival, my lord." Someone behind him knelt.
Just then, a nearby stone mountain cracked open, revealing a blood-colored altar soaked in blood.
