After beginning a second life, he aided the Lunar Essence and Solar Essence Divine Churches by recovering the Human Emperor Seal, then set out with the Qilin Emperor to investigate the Undying Heavenly Emperor.

Yuangeng defeated the Undying Heavenly Emperor, studied faith and immortal medicines, and took command of the Underworld as the Burial Emperor. As he prepared to prove his Dao, Cao Yusheng hid in an iron coffin after his lifespan ended.

• Yuangeng confronted the Undying Heavenly Emperor beneath Yinghuo and defeated him, sealing the Immortal Bell and later destroying the Heavenly Emperor’s divine spirit.
• Yuangeng and the Qilin Emperor explored the Chaos Cave, and Yuangeng gave his old friend longevity substance before helping him pursue a third lifetime.
• Yuangeng bound the Kunlun Immortal Bell to himself, rescued the Qilin Emperor from a dream spanning the ages, and gave him a longevity art.
• Yuangeng studied Ziwei’s faith power and the Bodhi Seed, then reflected the teachings of an old monk and brought the seed to his ancient world.
• The Corpse Emperor summoned Yuangeng to the Underworld, where Yuangeng’s burial Dao made its inhabitants mistake him for the Netherworld Venerable.
• Yuangeng agreed to lead the Underworld, took control of its palaces, and declared himself the Burial Emperor.
