After leaving the Drunken Immortal Pavilion, Li Wangxian followed the others straight to the Ziwei Divine Dynasty's Domain Gate rental office, where he paid a hundred jin of source for a place on the journey to the Ziwei Imperial Capital.
Since many cultivators were traveling together, the trip did not cost much. The fewer people there were, the greater the expense each cultivator had to shoulder. This was also why Li Wangxian's earlier travels had taken so much time, and why he had nearly run out of source.
After receiving a jade token that served much like a ticket, Li Wangxian did not delay. He spent a night at an inn in the city, then stepped onto the teleportation array with the others the next day, bound for the Ziwei Divine Dynasty's imperial capital.
As Li Wangxian stepped onto the teleportation array, elsewhere, the Sun God Sect welcomed two distinguished guests that day-a rare occurrence since its decline.
They were two young male cultivators clad in Purple Divine Armor, both with impressive cultivation. Standing outside the Sun God Sect's mountain gate, they puzzled over the orders from their superiors.
"I really don't understand what makes a fallen house like the Sun God Sect worth inviting."
The sinister-looking man on the left was somewhat displeased, unable to fathom his superiors' intentions.
"Besides, we never invited the Sun God Sect to past celebrations or gatherings of the holy lands. Why break with the usual practice this time?"
The cultivator on the right was not nearly as resentful. After considering those words carefully, he arrived at a guess.
"I've vaguely heard that the Sun God Sect's Divine Son of this generation seems to have undergone a bloodline reversion to his ancestors. His talent is apparently astonishing. Perhaps that's why the princess specifically invited him!"
No wall in this world could keep the wind from passing through. Besides, the Sun God Sect's ability to conceal things was hardly exceptional.
Although they had deliberately kept Li Wangxian hidden since his birth, they had still let quite a few clues slip. His earlier transformation, when his bloodline reverted to his ancestors, had left plenty of traces. Fortunately, the Sun God Sect truly had declined, and it possessed little that others coveted.
Thus, it had not attracted much attention. Still, some great sects and well-informed cultivators had vaguely heard that the Sun God Sect had a "genius" named Li Wangxian in this generation.
"A genius? However astonishing he is, can he compare to prodigies like Lu Ya and Daoist Sanque? If he can, then this trip from the imperial capital would at least be worthwhile!"
The sinister-looking man spoke disdainfully. He did not believe this supposed Divine Son could match prodigies like Lu Ya, whose names resounded throughout Ziwei Ancient Star.
"Perhaps!"
The man on the right had a mild countenance. He said nothing more, quietly waiting for the Sun God Sect's disciples to report to their higher-ups.
Before long, Uncle Jiang appeared and welcomed the two men into the sect.
"This is the Sun God Sect?"
The two men exchanged a glance, both utterly astonished. Wasn't this mountain gate far too dilapidated? Had there not still been two Great Abilities here, they would have thought they had taken a wrong turn and entered some small sect.
There were a few reasonably picturesque peaks, but no gardens of ancient medicinal plants grew upon them, nor were there flocks of spirit birds. There were only a scant handful of disciples and a single decrepit main hall.
This was the Sun God Sect as it stood now. The sight almost made one wonder whether one was dreaming. Was this truly the foremost holy land of a certain period in the Primordial Era?
"Time! It truly has buried far too much."
The mild-looking man sighed inwardly, countless thoughts flashing through his mind. Was there truly no undying legacy in this world?
Perhaps one day, the Ziwei Divine Dynasty would fall into such ruin as well, or even perish?
The sinister-looking man grew even more displeased, though he did not show it on his face. After all, they were merely envoys of the Ziwei Divine Dynasty.
Inside the main hall, Father Li knew nothing of their thoughts. Puzzled, he asked, "May I ask what brings the Ziwei Divine Dynasty's envoys to our sect?"
"Princess Yueshi will soon hold her Coming-of-Age Ceremony. She wishes to invite the various sects' Saint Sons, successors, and others to a small gathering. We have come expressly to invite your sect's Divine Son."
Father Li was taken aback, then explained, "What unfortunate timing. My son left some time ago to gain experience in the world, and he is not in the sect at present."
At these words, the sinister-looking man's expression darkened. He did not believe Father Li's explanation.
"Are you refusing our dynasty's princess's goodwill, Sect Leader Li?"
His words were decidedly rude, but Father Li's expression remained unchanged. He merely fixed the man with a look before saying, "I have no such intention. It is simply that my son truly is not here. My humble son lacks the good fortune to behold the princess's regal grace."
The sinister-looking man's face grew gloomy. He wanted to say more, but a look from the other man stopped him.
"It is no matter, Sect Leader Li. You are too courteous. The princess also instructed us before we left that, should the Divine Son have time, he may attend with the invitation. If he has no time, she can only regret being unable to meet your sect's gifted young talent."
"Princess Yueshi truly treats others with kindness and courtesy!" Father Li was moved, and his praise was utterly sincere.
The two envoys had nothing to say. They could only leave the invitation behind and depart under Uncle Jiang's guidance.
After leaving the Sun God Sect's mountain gate, the sinister-looking man remained indignant. He felt that Father Li had shown no respect for him or for the Ziwei Divine Dynasty.
"A fallen house of a declining sect, still dreaming its grand dreams of the Primordial Era? How dare they disrespect the dynasty like this? Do they want their sect destroyed?"
"Mind your words. This is not something we can recklessly pass judgment on."
The mild-looking cultivator sighed softly. Perhaps it really was a coincidence. Otherwise, he could think of no reason for Father Li to act this way. After all, it was merely a gathering of Saint Sons, and there would be no danger.
Wait, danger? Are they afraid someone will seize this opportunity to strike at their Divine Son?
His expression changed as he dimly recalled certain rumors concerning the Sun God Sect's decline, the Taiyin God Sect's destruction, and other matters.
"Why must it come to this? After all, theirs is the bloodline of a Human Emperor who once rendered great service!" After a sigh, he felt he understood Father Li's reasoning somewhat.
"Hmph, so he's afraid his son will die out there! He does have a little cunning." The sinister-looking man understood what the other man meant and sneered repeatedly.
From beginning to end, neither of them believed that Li Wangxian truly was absent from the sect. Of course, even if Li Wangxian had been there, he might not have attended in his true body.
Although he now carried a Saint Weapon and might well have been safe, what the Sun God Sect needed during this period of lying low was to build up its reserves, not hold Li Wangxian back as he grew.
There was no shame in this. A dragon could grow large or small, soar aloft or conceal itself. When large, it stirred clouds and breathed mist; when small, it hid its scales and concealed its form.
Even a true dragon needed to seize the right moment and judge the circumstances. How much more so did Li Wangxian, who had yet to complete his Dragon Transformation?
An invincible heart did not mean being a thickheaded fool who charged blindly ahead. Besides, in the end, Li Wangxian did not worry about his own safety. With his current means, he was confident he could preserve his life no matter what predicament arose. His only concern was for the people of the Sun God Sect.
"Hmm, so this is the Ziwei Imperial Capital? It truly is magnificent and prosperous beyond compare."
As he emerged from the teleportation array, even a fleeting glimpse compelled Li Wangxian to marvel. This truly was a monumental Divine City.
