Anyone within the universe was destined to be bound by it.
Even those who became Dao-Proving Venerables could not escape, still suppressed by the rules of heaven and earth.
This was an iron law. Anyone born into this world was destined to be constrained by it.
No one could escape.
This was also why countless Supremes, Ancient Emperors, and Great Emperors could not live forever.
Apart from those longevity-giving Indestructible Substances, there was the suppression of heaven and earth.
The Shrouding the Heavens Universe had been shattered ages ago. Its Heavenly Dao was incomplete, and its laws restricted all living beings.
Now, every period of prosperity and the Dharma-Ending Age in the universe was part of the cycle through which heaven and earth operated.
This was the instinct of the incomplete universe: to cycle endlessly, swallowing the Dao of living beings to repair itself.
Under this iron law, no matter how powerful one became, one would ultimately die and dissolve into the Dao, destined never to live forever.
Unless one broke the universe's constraints, attained an Immortal's body, possessed Immortal Dao laws, and transcended this universe.
This was the most fundamental reason why countless Supremes, Ancient Emperors, and Great Emperors all sought to become Immortals and enter the Immortal Domain.
Even the Mythological Era, prosperous to its pinnacle, had been incomplete compared with the intact Shrouding the Heavens Universe.
Or rather, no matter how the Shrouding the Heavens Universe recovered or how prosperous it became, compared with a complete universe, it had always been in a Dharma-Ending Age.
Such an era doomed everyone to be denied eternal
