Under cover of darkness, Lorne and Danitz supported the unconscious "Bloodhand" Luca between them, each taking one side. They slipped silently through several deserted alleys and arrived at a newly rented bungalow in an even more secluded location.
For safety's sake, they hadn't returned to the inn. After all, it was a safe house belonging to the Golden Dream. If it was exposed, things would become very troublesome.
Bang!
Luca was roughly dumped onto the cold, damp floor.
"What do we do now?" Danitz caught his breath and asked, looking at the pirate on the floor.
"No hurry."
Rather than getting straight to work, Lorne took a coin from his pocket and tossed it into the air.
When he saw it land heads up in his palm, he made up his mind.
This Luca fellow really did deserve to die.
"Let's do it."
"How are you going to do this?" Danitz asked. "Just as we planned-make a body double, of course." Lorne took the faintly glowing Disguise charm from his pocket and examined it, turning it between his fingers for a while.
After several seconds of silence, he stopped hesitating and infused it with spirituality. The patterns on the charm lit up instantly, giving off a blinding glow.
He crouched down, steeled himself, and pressed the charm directly against Luca's face.
Sizzle-
With a sound like raw flesh being seared by a branding iron, a dazzling white light erupted where the charm touched his cheek!
"Aaaaargh!"
The unconscious Luca jolted awake with a heart-rending, inhuman scream, his limbs convulsing violently.
Wisps of white smoke rose from his face, accompanied by the stench of scorched flesh.
A moment later, the white light faded. The face that had belonged to "Bloodhand" Luca was gone. Now he looked exactly like Lorne had before.
