The Magician loosened his grip on the brass pendulum's silver chain. The pendulum hung a few centimeters above the parchment bearing his question, as motionless as a corpse.
"Damn it..." He flicked the obsidian at the top of the pendulum, but it remained lifeless.
This doesn't look like a failed divination... The Magician was puzzled. In all his years as a Fortune Teller, he had never encountered anything like this.
The curtain suddenly stirred without a breeze, its canvas brushing the back of his neck. As the Magician instinctively reached behind him, the pendulum in his right hand began spinning wildly clockwise without warning.
"Damn it!" He jerked his hand too hard, and the pendulum knocked over the parchment bearing his question.
The Magician froze in front of his chair, watching the pendulum roll toward the edge of the table after slipping from his hand.
"This..."
"Captain!"
Snapping out of his surprise, the Magician looked at the newcomer standing at the door.
It was the youngest Fortune Teller on the team.
"Captain, something's happened." The Seer's expression seemed off.
"What is it?"
"You... you'll understand if you come with me."
Seeing his subordinate's expression, the Magician said nothing and followed her to a small tent.
This was the Clown's room.
"He hasn't come out since yesterday afternoon."
"When I passed by just now, my spiritual intuition was triggered. I'm a little worried..."
"Hmm..."
"There really is something wrong with the spirituality around here."
Has he lost control...? The Magician studied the door before him.
Although it was a tent, it had a basic frame, so unlike an ordinary tent, it also had a proper door.
Hasn't he already digested his Clown Potion? Why would something suddenly go wrong...? The Magician couldn't make sense of it.
"Kid, are you in there?"
