Harras pinched the stem of his wineglass and raised it slightly in acknowledgment of Capim.
But the next moment, Harras frowned and instinctively looked toward the darkness at the edge of the dining room.
Just then, blades of wind shot out of the darkness, hurtling toward everyone present. Mr. A's figure appeared there, his eyes devoid of emotion as he spread his arms.
"I came, I saw, I recorded."
A Scribe? Information about the corresponding Sequence immediately surfaced in Harras's mind, only for him to reject that conclusion a moment later:
According to military records, most of the Abraham Family's Scribes had been massacred by the Aurora Order. That meant the man before him was most likely a Shepherd Grazing a Scribe!
He thrust out his hand and loudly uttered a word in Ancient Hermes: "Imprisonment!"
A Shepherd could only Graze one soul at a time. Harras had no way of knowing whether the Shepherd before him was Grazing a Scribe or a Traveler, so he chose to trap this potentially highly mobile opponent.
That would turn the fellow into a sitting duck.
The Mandated Punishers in Backlund were currently investigating unaffiliated Beyonders and Evil God Followers hiding within the city. All he had to do was hold out for a while, and the Church of Storms' Mandated Punishers would arrive.
As for whether the Mandated Punishers would investigate their connection to Capim or search his basement, his companion was stationed down there, ready to dispose of the paper evidence at any moment!
As for the living evidence, bringing the entire house down and burying the girls alive in the basement would clean that up as well.
But just then, Harras suddenly saw a door outline itself in midair. A stern man wearing a tailcoat and gold-rimmed glasses stepped through.
