Late at night, Lanevus slowly rose from the bed in his temporary lodgings. After looking around and making sure his surroundings were safe, he changed into a pitch-black outfit with lightning speed.
Once he had put it on, Lanevus chuckled softly, picked up the suitcase beside him, and tiptoed to the door.
This was the money he had swindled from the idiots he had contacted over the past few days through the Aurora Order's hidden influence and connections.
He had prepared meticulously for this, even convincing several wealthy individuals to invest a sum of money with complete confidence-what would become of them after losing that money was none of his concern.
Those people who could not see through his lies, who let profit blind them, who were even willing to marry their daughters off to him... he thought them naive and stupid.

At that thought, a satisfied smile appeared on Lanevus's reasonably handsome face. He recalled the reason he had to leave, and the pleasure of being with the girl whose affections he had won through deceit.
A contemptuous chuckle escaped his throat. Without a trace of reluctance, he pushed open the door and walked outside.
But the instant he stepped out, he saw a thick shadow loom before him. Lanevus became alert almost immediately.
