Establishing a chakra network was not a passing whim for Zou Hyuga.
In fact, he had entertained a similar idea years ago. By bestowing chakra, he could indirectly control ninja, or even create them. But having to go out periodically to maintain their chakra had forced him to keep the operation small.
Later, once he could recover nature transformation chakra from those ninja, he placed even greater value on it.
Now, after signing a contract with the Ley Line Consciousness, his ambitions had sprouted like weeds. It was not simply about obtaining nature transformation chakra anymore. More importantly, there was the Ley Line Consciousness's behavior over the past few days.
It reminded Zou Hyuga of the God Tree. The Leyline, absorbing energy from the earth veins, bore a striking resemblance to it.
This inevitably made Zou Hyuga suspicious of the Leyline's origins.
Yet even Sara, the Queen of Roran, knew little about its origins. She only knew that Rōran owed its existence to the Leyline. Without it, the glorious Rōran of old would never have existed.
Unable to learn the Leyline's origins from the Queen of Roran, Zou Hyuga could only venture some bold guesses.
The first was that the Leyline had a profound connection to the God Tree. It might even have been a part separated from the God Tree before it was sealed.
The second was that the Leyline was a product of the planet's energy, a rudimentary consciousness born from natural energy.
For some reason, however, it had gradually lost its connection to the earth's energy and become incredibly weak.
The last, and least likely, possibility was that the Leyline had been artificially created by the ancestors of Rōran's royal line as a device to absorb the earth's energy.
That sounded absurd, but it was not impossible.
