What had Earth looked like more than eighty epochs before the modern era-over eight hundred thousand years ago?
According to the research conducted on the Earth Li Che had lived on before transmigrating, Earth should have been in a major glacial period of the Pleistocene, with saber-toothed tigers, mammoths, and early humans competing for a chance at survival.
But according to the history of Earth in the Primitive Universe, more than eight hundred thousand years ago, Earth had merely been a livestock planet belonging to a basic cosmic civilization—the Silver-Blue Empire. It raised vast numbers of all kinds of monsters and was one of the Silver-Blue Empire's important assets.
To protect this livestock planet, which continually produced special monsters, the Silver-Blue Empire had even dispatched an interstellar fleet to guard it.
That was everything Li Che knew about Earth. He had not inherited all the memories of Li Che from the Mountain Sea Realm, but fortunately, those fragmented memories did contain Earth's coordinates.
Thus, Li Che's F6-grade spaceship had not paused even briefly at the planet called Horned Dragon Star. Upon reaching that star system, it had immediately locked onto the location of the Milky Way within the Silver-Blue Empire and headed straight for Earth.
Nearly half a year after retiring from the Extraterrestrial Battlefield, Li Che finally crossed more than half the Ganwu Great Star Zone and arrived at the outskirts of a solar system that felt both deeply familiar and unfamiliar.
"Sir, we have reached the preset cosmic coordinates. A life-bearing planet has been detected in the star system ahead. It is state property of the Silver-Blue Empire, a subordinate of the Black Dragon Mountain Empire, and is protected by interstellar law."
"A cosmic fleet has been detected stationed around that life-bearing planet. F6-grade automatic scanners activated."
"Scan complete. The cosmic fleet consists of four C3-grade spaceships, 212 B1-B9-grade warships, and seventy-one A1-A9-grade transport ships..."
The intelligent assistant, Bai Yue, faithfully reported the ship's scan results, but before the report could finish, Li Che interrupted with a speechless expression.
Four C-grade spaceships and more than two hundred A- and B-grade spaceships-this so-called cosmic fleet would not even qualify as cannon fodder on the Extraterrestrial Battlefield. Li Che could not be bothered to give them another glance.
"Sir, under the peace accords of the Black Dragon Mountain Empire, we should submit an application to the Silver-Blue Empire before landing on this planet and only begin exploring after receiving official approval."
Just as Li Che was about to head straight for Earth, Bai Yue's gentle voice sounded in his ears again.
"An application, my ass. Do I really need to apply to some basic civilization over something this trivial? Bai Yue, from now on, we'll ignore the laws of every civilization below the intermediate level."
Li Che rolled his eyes and gave the order directly.
"Also, activate stealth for the entire ship and wait for me to return."
Once everything was done, Li Che opened the hatch of his F6-grade ship and leaped into space.
With his World Master Level physique and the surging World Force within him, Li Che accelerated through the vacuum, flying swiftly toward the depths of the solar system ahead.
Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars...
One once-familiar planet after another appeared before him, and distant memories of his life as an Earthling gradually welled up. He kept accelerating through space and soon spotted the utterly familiar blue planet in the distance.
That was Earth!
Hum!
With World Force enveloping his body, Li Che ignored the C-grade detection field the Silver-Blue Empire had installed around Earth and soon descended to its surface like a weightless feather.
Earth's geological structure was already largely the same as that of the modern Earth Li Che knew. However, the entire planet had been strictly divided by force fields, and its land, oceans, and other regions had all undergone meticulous planning.
Each force-field enclosure housed considerable numbers of various giant beasts. On land, there were saber-toothed tigers, mammoths, and all kinds of dinosaurs. In the oceans, there were ichthyosaurs, mosasaurs, plesiosaurs, megalodons, and more.
The weakest of those giant beasts were only at the first or second stage of the Apprentice level, while the strongest had actually reached the stellar level.
They were not the products of natural competition and selection, but livestock carefully sorted and raised by the Silver-Blue Empire, destined to be sold as commodities throughout the universe.
It felt as though all of Earth consisted of enormous farms and pastures. Its sole purpose was to endlessly raise all sorts of monster merchandise for the empire in exchange for Black Dragon Coins, Silver-Blue Coins, and other currencies.
Managing these monsters still required people, but with the aid of technological equipment, the planet's entire human population amounted to only a few million.
With his hands clasped behind his back, Li Che wandered through an enormous "pasture" dedicated to raising mammoths, reflecting on what he saw. The mammoth king there had already reached the eighth stage of the stellar level, yet it remained nothing more than livestock in a cage, awaiting its fate of being sold.
Who could have imagined that Earth, personally modified by Mountain Guest, a supreme expert of the universe, would now have become a vast pasture for a basic civilization?
Mountain Sea Realm, Origin Star, Earth...
The span encompassing these three periods of the planet's history was undoubtedly immensely long. Li Che remembered that the Star Tower's prospective master from the Origin Star era had lived more than eight billion years before Luo Feng-a full eight hundred thousand epochs.
When the Star Tower candidate of the Origin Star era rose to prominence, Nine Sword Venerable probably had not even been born yet.
And the Mountain Sea Realm era was far older than the Origin Star era.
Hum!
As these thoughts passed through his mind, Li Che stepped forward. Invisible, surging World Force swiftly enveloped the relatively small planet, beginning to probe its geological strata inch by inch in search of its history.
Li Che carried out this painstaking exploration for more than a month.
Only after more than a month had passed did Li Che finally discover an unimaginably ancient "fossil" deep within the geological strata of Earth's Eurasian continent.
In truth, it might not have been a fossil at all, but rather a metal plate cast from an extremely hard metal. It was clearly an alloy of great strength, with hardness that ranked among the best even among D-grade metals.
Several intricate characters that Li Che did not recognize at all were engraved on the metal plate. They were neither the universal language nor the ancient human pictographs he remembered, but a more complex script that seemed more closely attuned to the soul.
Snap!
The instant he clearly saw those obscure characters, Li Che suddenly felt the illusory star representing Li Che of the Mountain Sea Realm tremble without warning in the Infinite Land at the deepest core of his true spirit. Some of the obsessions entwined around it dissipated, opening it completely to his main self.
Clearly, these characters were the ancient script used on Earth during the Mountain Sea Realm era.
At that moment, Li Che instantly understood the meaning of this ancient script that spoke directly to the soul:
"Mountain Sea!"
