Background / History

Former life and purpose

Sitting Mountain Guest is the reincarnation of a God King from the Origin Continent. Although his current cultivation is only Universe Strongest, he retains God King-level soul will and knowledge. His former combat strength was not especially high among God Kings 311 337 399.

His purpose in nurturing disciples is to raise someone capable of returning to the Origin Continent with him and helping avenge him. Yun He recognizes this motive before Sitting Mountain Guest openly explains it to Luo Feng. The later encounter with the God King of Jin connects both Earth-born brothers to the Jin lineage and its conflict with three God Kings 310 556 568.

Creation of the two lineages

Sitting Mountain Guest guided the emergence of the Yan God Race and the Earth Human Lineage, both branches of humanity. He paid an enormous price to shape Earth into a cradle for people exceptional in soul will 310.

He calls Earthlings and the Yan God Race his children, but Yun He regards that affection as conditional on meeting his expectations. Two earlier Earth inheritance candidates endured the Star Tower’s ordeal for more than two thousand and three thousand years respectively, yet died after failing; Sitting Mountain Guest did not resurrect them 310.

Luo Feng’s arranged path

Sitting Mountain Guest secretly organized many of Luo Feng’s defining opportunities. He arranged the discovery of the first Nine Tribulations metal plate on Earth during Luo Feng’s Domain Lord period, followed by the second plate on the Outer Domain Battlefield. These encounters increased Luo Feng’s gene level and helped make his rise as Blade River King possible 264.

Luo Feng subsequently endured the Star Tower’s life-and-death inheritance for six thousand years. Even Sitting Mountain Guest could not predict whether he would survive: the tower had mutated during forging, greatly increasing its power and making its master-recognition requirements uncertain 264.

Yun He, by contrast, developed without Sitting Mountain Guest’s guidance. Sitting Mountain Guest initially overlooked him, then recognized his potential after his exploits in the Ancestral God Cult and his killing of Venerable Tianhua while still an Undying. By their first formal meeting, Yun He was too accomplished to recruit naturally as a disciple, so they became partners instead 310 311 399.

Appearance

Sitting Mountain Guest appears as a kindly elderly man with a long, snow-white beard, two translucent horns, and a divine body nearly one hundred thousand kilometers tall 264 311 334.

• Black robes: Appears in dark, lustrous robes when visiting the colossal body containing Jin World 520.
• Characteristic posture: Often sits cross-legged atop his mountain treasure 264 334.

Personality

Sitting Mountain Guest is secretive, proud, and fond of presenting himself as merely an elderly treasure craftsman. He rarely fights opponents directly, preferring unusual methods, concealment, and carefully arranged situations. His reputation is sufficiently troublesome that even major factions hesitate to offend him 349 402 413.

His teaching emphasizes independence. He deliberately speaks harshly and withholds assistance to prevent disciples from becoming dependent on him or reckless under his protection. Nevertheless, his concern for Luo Feng repeatedly contradicts his claims that he does not care whether his disciple lives or dies 335 402 406 407.

He enjoys teasing Yun He and Luo Feng, but their achievements also bring him genuine delight. He repeatedly regrets overlooking Yun He when he was weak, describing that missed opportunity as his greatest mistake 409 465 508 568.

He studies his former corpse, touches its torn armor with trembling fingers, and weeps at the name “Jin World.” He then leaves rather than give the watching Origin Will an opportunity to suppress him 520.

Later, the God King of Jin recognizes Yun He and Luo Feng’s connection to Sitting Mountain Guest. Luo Feng’s Nine Tribulations Secret Manual identifies him as a core member of the Jin lineage, linking both brothers to the coming conflict with three God Kings 556.

World Beasts and the end of the universe

• Advises Yun He and Luo Feng to demand the opportunity to merge their consciousness with the Primal Universe’s origin and experience its destruction and rebirth as payment for confronting the World Beasts 568.
• Withholds the full explanation of his plans while the Origin Will watches, but sends the brothers onward with a warning to be cautious 568.
