Hello, my dear, esteemed readers. This is Nine-Tailed Four-Eared Sheep. Thank you so much for reading this far.

After fifteen days of fierce battle, this fanfic finally scraped its way into a paid release.

Somehow, it had already been a year and a half since I started writing webnovels for China Literature Group.

Those of you who read Nine-Tailed Four-Eared Sheep's previous fanfics and original webnovels probably noticed that I hadn't written anything from the second half of last year through the first half of this year, aside from a brief return in late May and early June.

I spent those six-plus months looking for work. That's right: Nine-Tailed Four-Eared Sheep is a pitiful member of the graduating class of 2026.

More than ten million university students graduate every year now. Jobs are hard to find, and shit is hard to swallow.

After spending more than half a year applying for jobs without hearing a peep, I submitted a story idea drawn from my four years at university to China Literature Group as graduation approached. To my surprise, I actually landed a contract with Qidian.

Unfortunately, I only kept at it for a month before going back to the job hunt.

For one thing, a few comments shattered my Dao heart. For another, I really couldn't see any way to support myself through webnovels.

After another hectic month or so of job hunting, I finally found a company willing to hire me, but the work itself was emotionally draining.

Looking back, I realized I still wanted to write webnovels-to write words and stories that interested me, even if they were only fanfics with little readership.

That was also why I started this book.

The reason my nightly updates never came at a fixed time was entirely down to how quickly I could write after finishing work and getting back to my rented room sometime after eight.

That said, although I have a dark history of abandoning updates on two contracted books, neither ever went behind a paywall. Still, I let my esteemed readers down, and Nine-Tailed Four-Eared Sheep would like to apologize to all of you here.

But every webnovel Nine-Tailed Four-Eared Sheep ever charged for was brought to completion, through all the rushing and scrambling. Hopefully, this one will be no different.

That's all I have to say. Once again, thank you to all my esteemed readers for doing me the honor of reading this far. And finally, may this shameless Nine-Tailed Four-Eared Sheep ask you for a monthly vote, a recommendation vote, or a tip? Thank you, everyone!
