Unscientific Pokémon.
The West America Continent.
Cliff Second Base.
A thin-faced doctor with silver-framed glasses and gray curly hair observed the Pokémon inside the experimental tank with focused eyes.
"Begin the test," the curly-haired doctor ordered in a deep voice.
Following the doctor's command, a soldier in combat gear immediately raised a handgun, the muzzle locked steadily onto the Caterpie secured in the center of the experimental table.
The curly-haired doctor ordered, "Fire."
Bang, bang, bang...
Seven gunshots rang out in succession. After the gunpowder smoke dissipated, the Caterpie's skin merely bore a few faint white marks.
Seeing this, the curly-haired doctor recorded the experimental data just gathered with a blank expression.
"Small-caliber bullets cannot cause effective damage to the Caterpie Magical Beast, but judging from the test subject's reaction, small-caliber damage can still cause it to feel pain."
"Switch to a large-caliber handgun," the curly-haired doctor continued to order.
Receiving the command, the soldier lowered the Parabellum Pistol in his hand and picked up the Magnum Revolver beside him.
"Bang!"
A bullet burst from the muzzle, accurately hitting the constantly struggling and writhing Caterpie.
After the soldier stopped shooting, the curly-haired doctor hurriedly shouted, "Zoom in on the camera, and send me the data."
The assistant next to him tapped his fingers rapidly on the keyboard, and within moments, the experimental data was organized and synchronously transmitted to the curly-haired doctor's terminal.
"Large-caliber handguns cannot produce effective damage to the test subject either," the curly-haired doctor whispered, his face full of shock.
"This is not carbon-based life at all... This is a miracle! This is a miracle of life!"
Trembling with excitement, the curly-haired doctor urged further, "Use the long-range sniper rifle!"
The soldier put down the Magnum and took the BMG handed over by the assistant.
"Bang!"
The armor-piercing round struck almost directly onto the body of the Caterpie, which was less than 30 centimeters long.
Yet bizarrely, the Caterpie only gained an additional white mark, beneath which a hint of bruising was faintly visible.
"Unbelievable! This Caterpie Magical Beast is simply the greatest blasphemy against science!"
As a carbon-based organism, a mere bug, it was actually capable of hard-engaging the bombardment of armor-piercing rounds.
"No..."
The curly-haired doctor suddenly let out a strange cry, his right hand flipping rapidly through the data on his tablet like he had been electrocuted.
"Before Base Seven was destroyed, it sent over a set of data. The Caterpie Magical Beast inside could be sliced open by a Diamond Scalpel. Why is it that here, these Caterpie Magical Beasts can even immunize against armor-piercing rounds?"
"Could it be!"
The curly-haired doctor's eyes widened, staring fixedly at the Caterpie as it wriggled constantly from the pain.
"Quick! Try using ultra-low-temperature attacks. I think I know the secret of this group of Magical Beasts," the curly-haired doctor urged frantically.
The laboratory continued its experiments.
Over the time that followed, the captured Caterpie suffered almost endless torment.
Finally, the curly-haired doctor looked at the now-dead Caterpie and nodded with satisfaction.
"Record!"
"The Magical Beast is almost immune to all modern firearms; no bullets can cause effective damage to it."
"The Caterpie Magical Beast has extremely weak resistance to fire, mark fire as a key focus, rather than specific high temperatures."
"Therefore, I suggest that outgoing soldiers best carry weapons such as flamethrowers. Finally, I will emphasize this point once more."
"Due to the small number of test subjects, all the above conclusions may be limited to the Caterpie Magical Beast and cannot be applied to other Magical Beasts."
After finishing, the curly-haired doctor brought the assistant responsible for recording to the corpse of the Caterpie.
The Caterpie, burned to a charred black, lay quietly there. Inside the laboratory, no one felt that this scene was cruel.
Because in order to capture this Caterpie, the base had lost at least four elite soldiers, not including casualties caused by other Magical Beasts.
"Let's begin the second group of experiments. I remember, that seems to be the second form of the Caterpie Magical Beast, right?"
"Yes, Doctor. The base has named this Magical Beast the Green Cocoon Magical Beast. It is the second form of the Caterpie Magical Beast, just like bugs pupating in nature."
"Start directly from the long-range anti-materiel sniper rifle. If the previous data is correct, the Green Cocoon Magical Beast should also be able to immunize against firearms," the doctor said.
The assistant beside him nodded, and a restrained Metapod was pushed into the laboratory.
The soldiers, already familiar with the process, began loading ammunition.
As the experiment began, the huge roar of gunfire echoed throughout the entire laboratory.
~Bang
The bullet head accurately hit the Metapod, but because the Metapod's shell was too hard and even possessed a bit of elasticity, the bullet head actually bounced right off.
The bounced bullet head penetrated the transparent glass of the laboratory and struck a researcher who was currently recording data.
The curly-haired doctor merely glanced at the heavily injured researcher and coldly commanded, "Carry him down, continue collecting data."
One hour later.
Everyone inside the laboratory stared at the fallen-silent Metapod, their brows furrowing tightly as they fell into prolonged contemplation.
"Record."
"Most methods currently known to humanity cannot cause effective damage to the Green Cocoon Magical Beast. Gunshots, burning, electric shocks, poisons, and other methods are all ineffective against it."
"Therefore..."
"Finally, according to Dr. Nambo's conjecture, we have reason to suspect that these Magical Beasts are high-dimensional life forms, and human science currently cannot effectively interpret them."
"Today's experiment ends here." The curly-haired doctor took off his silver-framed glasses with a face full of fatigue.
"Biology... has died."
Dropping those words laden with despair, the curly-haired doctor's back revealed an indescribable weariness as he walked out of the laboratory without looking back.
Identical experiments were being repeated in almost every military base around the world.
Global communications were completely severed, and every base became an isolated island cut off from the world. Scholars, unable to communicate with each other, could only fumble on their own to interpret this group of suddenly descended Magical Beasts.
Humanity attempted to use wisdom to return to the top of the food chain.
Humanity attempted to use science to retake everything they had lost once again.
Meanwhile, outside Cliff Second Base.
A peculiar Pokémon, shaped like an old rag doll with a zipper sewn across its mouth, stared fixedly at the base before it, its eyes revealing a greed bordering on frenzy.
Banette fed on grudge and life energy.
It could clearly sense that a massive amount of grievance and life energy had gathered inside. It was time for another hearty meal.
Banette liked this world very much. Although this place was very unfamiliar to it, resentments were everywhere in this world.
Ever since it came to this world, its strength had grown rapidly almost every day. Most importantly, acquiring life energy in this place was also extremely convenient.
The life energy of those peculiar creatures that looked a bit like mannequins was truly too easy to plunder. It only needed to take one fierce, deep breath, and those mannequins could only offer up their life energy without the slightest ability to resist.
A ball of eerie blue, bizarre flame slowly condensed before Banette's chest.
Banette pushed Will-O-Wisp forward as it slowly descended.
The Will-O-Wisp expanded instantly upon touching the ground, then began to continuously devour everything around it.
Whether it was rock, soil, or even metal and glass, all melted continuously under the scorching of the Will-O-Wisp.
In less than a few minutes, the Will-O-Wisp enveloped the entirety of Cliff Second Base.
Banette floated above the blazing base, unscrupulously absorbing the life energy and grudge from below.
"There is actually still the grudge generated by a Pokémon?" Banette's eyes suddenly brightened, and then it once more began to inhale ravenously in huge gulps.
