The battle between Xia You's and Ash's Chimchar never reached a conclusion.
Because lunch was served.
The moment he saw lunch, Xia You left Ash behind and sat down at the table with a chuckle, leaving Ash standing there alone. Even his Chimchar abandoned Ash's Chimchar to join him at the table.
The human and Pokémon acted as though lunch mattered far more than Ash, completely ignoring the petrified boy and drawing another round of chuckles from May and the others.
He really had Ash wrapped around his little finger...
Of course, this was no disrespect toward Ash. They all understood that it was simply friends fooling around. Only people this close could joke with each other so freely.
Especially when Ash snapped out of it, stamped his feet in annoyance, and ran up to Xia You to loudly complain that he valued food over friendship, Dawn laughed out loud.
Sure enough, days on the road should be spent laughing and fooling around like this...
At that thought, she stole another glance at Xia You.
Seeing him lightly tapping his plate with an "I'm not listening, I'm not listening" attitude, even humming a song, her smile grew wider.
After the laughter, Cheryl and Brock served food to everyone else, then filled the lunch dishes for the Pokémon playing nearby. But before they could call the Pokémon over to eat, a small, filthy Pokémon appeared from somewhere, scurried up to one of the dishes on all fours, and began gobbling down the food.
From its desperate manner, it seemed not to have eaten in a very long time.
"What Pokémon is that?" May blinked, clearly a little surprised by the Pokémon's sudden appearance. "It's so dirty. Why does it look like it's rolled around in the mud a few times?"
