Seeing the space available to move shrink, Archie laughed. "Haha, now you can't put that speed advantage of yours to use, can you?! Flareon, do it again! Use Flamethrower!"
Flareon opened its mouth and used Flamethrower again.
Faced with the blazing fire, Jolteon couldn't help taking a few steps back, but with flames surrounding it front and rear, there was nowhere left to dodge.
Seeing this, Xia You shouted, "Jolteon, get to the other side of the pond!"
Hearing Xia You's command, Jolteon leaped into the pond, then paddled rapidly with all four legs and swam to the opposite bank.
Although it had soaked itself through, it had finally escaped the sea of fire.
It looked back at Flareon. The two battling Pokémon were now in separate areas, and with rock underfoot, it didn't have to worry about the flames spreading over.
Flareon, on the other hand, would have to reach the opposite bank as well if it wanted to attack Jolteon again, given the distance.
Worse still, beneath his feet was a stretch of grass. If he didn't leave soon, he would eventually be caught in his own flames as the fire grew!
"Tch..." Archie sighed helplessly.
As a Fire-type Pokémon, Flareon wasn't as afraid of water as Charmander, but it was still somewhat wary of it and reluctant to enter.
Crossing the pond to reach the other bank would certainly soak its fur. If Jolteon attacked it with an Electric-type move during the crossing, it would inevitably take even greater damage.
Seeing the hesitation on Archie's face, Xia You goaded him outright. "What's wrong? Afraid to come over?"
"What's there to be afraid of?!" With Archie's temperament, he naturally wouldn't tolerate a taunt like that.
Besides, he preferred taking the initiative to sitting around waiting for defeat.
