The Pokémon Caitlin sent out this time had a very unusual appearance.
It looked a little like a bird-no, it would be more accurate to say it had some avian features. It resembled a bird without quite being one, looking more like a strange, exotic, colorful totem from the Maya or some other similar rainforest civilization!
Its body was covered in multicolored feathers, looking almost dyed from a distance.
Its totem-like body had a single cyan eye and trident-shaped structures resembling ears on either side. It had a pair of wings and a tail similar to its wings, with four feathers on each wing and its tail. Every feather bore blue and red stripes. It hardly looked like a living creature at all, but rather... an exquisite temple ornament.
Just as with Gothitelle, this was naturally May's first time seeing a Pokémon like this.

It was once the guardian of an ancient city and retains memories of protecting it, having always patrolled the same route in the past. Some also believe it to be a messenger of a guardian deity. It uses psychic power to fly through the air and keeps watch for intruders. Excavations in places it frequently visits seem to uncover ruins believed to be ancient cities."

Fortunately, like Xia You's, May's Pokédex had previously had its database expanded to include Pokémon data from other regions. Otherwise, it really would not have recognized this Sigilyph.
Even so, she still found these Pokémon from other regions that she had never seen before incredibly novel.
What a strange-looking Pokémon.

Since it could fly, although
