Whether he really was Cynthia's ancestor still needed to be verified. Although they bore some resemblance, more than a thousand years separated them, and those features alone were not enough to establish anything.
Even Cynthia herself, though she had her suspicions, knew it could go either way. She would not waste her energy dwelling on such an unlikely possibility.
Even if he really was an ancestor of hers, after so much time, aside from a blood connection and that label, he had nothing to do with her anymore. And their blood ties had probably already been diluted through more than a dozen generations of descendants.
With that thought, she shook her head. "No, I don't know him. I've never seen him before."
Akari thought nothing of Cynthia's answer. She had only brought it up because the thought had struck her. She simply felt that they looked somewhat alike and meant nothing else by it.
At that moment, Cynthia came back to her senses. Knowing that there was no one else around to stop her now, she asked the question she had raised earlier. "The three Pokémon you're going to find at those three lakes tomorrow should be Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, the three Lake Guardians, right?"
Unlike Volo and Cogita, who had been evasive, Akari readily admitted it.
"That's right, those are the ones! I didn't expect you to know their names too, Miss Cynthia!"
This was astonishing to Akari, because she came from a world without Pokémon. Before coming here, she had known nothing about Pokémon at all, and everything she had learned had started from scratch.
Cynthia smiled. "That's because the Lake Guardians exist in our time too. And I'm a Pokémon Trainer. Oh, right, I suppose that profession doesn't exist in this time yet?"
"A Pokémon Trainer?"
