After resting at the Mansion for a night, Xia You, Cheryl, and May said goodbye to Cogita early the next morning, left her some start-up funds, and headed straight for Lake Valor.
Just like the previous Wallace Cup, Sinnoh's Grand Festival was being held on the shores of Lake Valor.
This was not the Grand Festival copying the Wallace Cup. Quite the opposite: the Wallace Cup had chosen to hold this year's event at Lake Valor because of the venue and its supporting facilities. Otherwise, even a Top Coordinator or Champion like Wallace could not have hosted such an event on his own.
Having already been there once, the three were quite familiar with the route.
After leaving Eterna Forest, they crossed Mt. Coronet again, then followed the main road to Hearthome City. From there, they headed east and crossed the Great Marsh, finally reaching the shores of Lake Valor after several days of travel.
Along the way, they could clearly feel that more Pokémon Trainers were heading toward Lake Valor. They saw crowds on almost every road, and even in the vast Great Marsh, they encountered several Pokémon Trainers.
Needless to say, like May, these people were most likely heading to the Grand Festival.
Naturally, some of these Coordinators enjoyed a fight. Upon meeting a fellow Grand Festival entrant, a mere exchange of looks gave them the idea of battling, and they set their sights on May.
Battles were inevitable.
