By now, the watching Trainers had packed the edges of the Battle Field. Curious, Xia You, Dawn, and Cheryl walked over as well.
Before they even drew close, they heard the sounds of fierce combat from within. After squeezing past the watching Trainers and looking inside, the first thing they saw was a Vaporeon locked in battle with an Emboar. In the Pokémon Trainer's Battle Areas on either side stood a man and a woman, each commanding their Pokémon.
Both were around Xia You's age, about twenty. There was little to say about the woman: ordinary looks, ordinary clothes, and an utterly ordinary Trainer.
The male Trainer, however, left much more of an impression.
Judging by his appearance and clothing, he was of medium height, with delicate features, medium-length blond hair, and slightly bronzed skin that suggested frequent exposure to the elements. Though in the middle of a battle, he wore a confident, composed smile. His clothes, however, looked very much like workwear, giving the impression that he was more than just a Pokémon Trainer.
To be honest, he looked somewhat familiar, as though Xia You had seen him somewhere before.
Especially with an unevolved Eevee following at his feet.
Yet his face was also rather commonplace, not particularly memorable.
Xia You studied him for quite a while but still failed to recognize him. One thing was certain, though: if he gave Xia You that feeling, he must have appeared in the anime or games.
Unfortunately, Xia You had completely forgotten him-or at least couldn't remember him right now.
Turning back to the Battle Field, he saw that after their fierce exchanges, Vaporeon had firmly gained the upper hand over Emboar.
Vaporeon needed no introduction. Like Flareon, it was one of the Eevee evolutions Xia You had seen most often.
