Xia You looked around and soon focused on a filing cabinet against the wall. On closer inspection, he spotted a scrape where its base met the floor, left by the cabinet being moved. The mark was still fresh, clearly made not long ago.
He strode over and pushed the filing cabinet aside with all his strength. Sure enough, a dark hidden door appeared behind it.
The hidden door stood ajar, and through the gap, he could just make out a staircase leading underground.
Standing before the door, he could also feel air flowing inside. The space below clearly was not sealed off; this had to be the warehouse's secret passage.
Lorelei came over and glanced down as well. "Looks like that executive escaped through here!"
Seeing that she seemed ready to head straight into the passage, Xia You reached out to stop her.
Lorelei asked in surprise, "What is it now?"
"From what I know of Lambda, he's a pretty devious man," Xia You said. "We'd better be careful!"
With that, he took a cautious approach and first waved Haunter over, sending him into the passage to investigate. After waiting a while, he saw Haunter return and give them an "OK" gesture. Only then did he relax and enter the hidden door with Lorelei and Sabrina.
Beyond the door lay a long, narrow, straight passage. It looked less than a meter wide. Perhaps because construction had been rushed, the ground was uneven, and even the walls on either side bore square shovel marks.
They had taken only a few steps under the dim emergency lighting when, alerted by Haunter, they suddenly spotted a trapdoor trap up ahead that had already been destroyed!
There really was a trap!
