Having agreed to Satake's request, Xia You entered the Ruins with Sabrina.
They first entered the stone chamber closest to them. Although it was still daytime outside, the interior was rather dim. With no power or lighting, Xia You had to turn on his flashlight to get a clear look inside.
The bright beam from the flashlight swept back and forth across the stone walls.
By its light, he looked around, but the place was completely empty. Even the markings on the walls that resembled writing had long since blurred, weathered almost beyond recognition.
Walking up to the stone wall, Xia You slowly traced the markings with his fingers, as though he could still feel the traces left by the passing years.
He turned to Sabrina and asked, "Is there anything strange around here?"
Sabrina closed her eyes, spreading her psychic powers out around her to sense the surroundings, but after a long while, she still shook her head.
"No. All I feel here is stillness, like a stretch of desert or a rock. It's an ordinary presence, with nothing out of place."
Xia You was not particularly surprised to hear that.
It made sense. After all, there was no telling how many times Satake and his team had surveyed this place. If there really was anything here, they would have discovered it long ago. There would have been nothing left for him to find!
And Satake clearly wasn't hoping he would explore it by such conventional means!
