For Ash, however, having only recently set foot on this continent, the Pokémon of the Hoenn Region still felt somewhat unfamiliar. Most of them were Pokémon he had yet to see.

Seeing this extraordinarily ugly, yellowish-brown fish Pokémon with thick lips for the first time, Ash naturally took out his Pokédex to scan it.
Once the Pokédex finished its introduction, he had some basic information about Feebas.

As Crawdaunt's unevolved form, Corphish looked even more like a crayfish. It had an orange shell, a white belly, three pointed protrusions on its head, and two large claws held aloft. Its beady eyes made it look a little vacant.
This Pokémon was said to be energetic wherever it was. It could adapt to any environment and wasn't picky about food, so it could eat anything. It also possessed tremendous vitality, and its numbers would keep increasing even in filthy rivers.
