As soon as the battle began, May eagerly gave Beautifly an order.
"Beautifly, use Tackle!"
Beautifly rode the wind, gliding through the air before charging at Taillow. Behind it, the glittering scales shed by its flapping wings shimmered in the sunlight, forming a long, distinctive trail.
This was a trait unique to butterfly Pokémon. Almost every kind of butterfly Pokémon shed some of this powder when flying vigorously, and the glittering particles were beautiful!
"Taillow, dodge!"
Such a simple attack would hardly land easily on Taillow, which was also airborne. Ash only had to open his mouth, and Taillow nimbly dodged the Tackle.
That was not all. Once Taillow had dodged, Ash ordered a Tackle as well, countering with the very same move!
But just as Taillow had dodged earlier, its Tackle could not easily hit Beautifly either.
Just as Taillow was about to collide with Beautifly, Beautifly tilted slightly to one side and narrowly avoided the attack, making May heave a sigh of relief.
After all, she had only recently gotten her own Pokémon and had not been traveling long. When her Pokémon was attacked, never mind comparing her to Xia You, she could not even stay as composed as Ash. It was hard for her feelings not to rise and fall with her Pokémon's condition.
Yet amid her tension, May also showed her talent as a Gym Leader's daughter at just the right moment, sharply ordering, "Beautifly, quick, use String Shot!"
Beautifly's long, needlelike mouth suddenly strained, then spat out a long strand of silk about as thick as a little finger. As though someone were controlling it, the silk bound Taillow's wings together in an instant!
The spectators' eyes lit up, especially Max's. He could not help blurting out, "May, your timing was really good this time!"
