After spending the night at the Cerulean Gym, Xia You and May said goodbye to Sakura, Misty, and the others early the next morning.
Looking at the friend standing opposite her, both Misty and May felt reluctant to part and deeply moved.
"Misty..." May began, then trailed off.
"Cheer up." Misty, on the other hand, seemed to have come to terms with it. Despite her immense reluctance, she still smiled. "The next time we meet, you have to be an outstanding Coordinator! And I'll watch all your contests on TV, so don't go losing to anyone else!"
Though a little sentimental, May was an optimistic person at heart.
Hearing Misty's encouragement, May nodded firmly.
"Don't worry. I'll definitely become a top Coordinator!"
"Take care."
The two girls clasped hands tightly. Everything went without saying.
After saying goodbye to May, Misty turned her gaze to Xia You. Yet the instant she saw that face she loved and those gentle eyes looking back at her, her defenses wavered, and she nearly burst into tears.
Taking a deep breath and forcing herself to calm down, Misty pulled something from her waist pouch with slightly reddened eyes and held it out to Xia You.
"Xia You..." Her voice trembled slightly. "I can't keep traveling with you anymore. I prepared this a while ago, and now I'm giving it to you. I hope that whenever you see it, you'll think of me!"
Xia You looked down. It was actually a fishing lure shaped like Misty!
Strange. When exactly did she make this? How come I never noticed before?
And she gave Ash one of these in the anime. I never expected her to give one to me now!
Still, it really is pretty cute.
