At May's words, Xia You shook his head, amused and helpless.
"So you want to compete against me," he said with a smile. "I wasn't planning to enter, actually, but since you put it that way, let's have a race. Beating me won't be that easy, though. Tomorrow, I'll show you that experience counts!"
As they ate, they chatted and laughed, imagining tomorrow's competition and finding plenty to look forward to.
Just then, Xia You's phone suddenly rang.
He took it out and glanced at it, only to see a name he hadn't expected at all-Anabel.
Why would she call me now?
Many thoughts flashed through Xia You's mind, and just a second later, he had a vague guess.
He gestured to May, then stood up, walked to an empty corner, and answered.
Anabel's familiar voice immediately came through. Without much small talk, she went straight to the point. "I heard you recently returned to Kanto and started challenging the Battle Frontier there?"
These people had noses like bloodhounds. Xia You wasn't surprised that she knew what he was doing.
Besides, hadn't he mentioned it before?
Or perhaps he hadn't.
It had been so long that he couldn't remember anyway.
"That's right. I've been challenging the Battle Frontier lately, and I've already earned several Badges," Xia You said with a smile. "Why? Is something wrong?"
Anabel took a deep breath and spoke in a somewhat heavy, formal tone. "What you're about to hear may sound utterly incredible, but please believe me. Everything I tell you really happened."
The more Anabel spoke like this, the more certain Xia You became of his guess.
"Don't worry. I've experienced things no matter how incredible they might sound. Please, just tell me."
As he spoke, Xia You glanced back at May in the distance.
