"Xia You, what's a Totem Pokémon?" May asked.
Faced with May's confusion, Xia You explained softly, "Actually, that isn't a term we use here. It's a special term from the distant Alola Region. It specifically refers to Pokémon that are larger than others of their species, Pokémon you can tell are noticeably different at a glance!"
"So that's what it means." May understood, then asked, "Does that mean these Totem Pokémon are really strong?"
Xia You first shook his head, then nodded.
"Actually, aside from their larger bodies, people haven't found any differences between Totem Pokémon and ordinary Pokémon, whether in their physical structure or their moves. From that perspective, there really is no difference between them. That said, their larger size also gives these Totem Pokémon stronger bodies and greater strength, so in that respect, they do have a certain advantage over others of their species."
Of course, this was something Xia You wasn't quite sure about himself.
They should have an advantage, right?
Although strength in the games was determined by numbers, and Totem Pokémon did indeed have exactly the same base stats as ordinary Pokémon, this was the real world. Larger bodies would naturally give them better physical capabilities. That was beyond question.
Still, it was hard to say. After all, this was only his own speculation. He would have to actually catch a Totem Pokémon and observe it before he could be certain.
However, even after choosing his target, Xia You was in no hurry to act.
This left May thoroughly puzzled.
Xia You wasn't the indecisive sort, so why was he now...
"Xia You, what are you thinking about?"
Xia You sighed, turning back to her with a wry smile. "I was thinking that Snorlax already eat a tremendous amount, never mind this Totem Snorlax.
