"Jimeron, Death Stream!"
"Aiya, ayoh!"
A massive torrent burst out of Max Power Jimeron. It struck Centiskorch directly, turning the surrounding heat into steam and rapidly cooling the area. The vapor gathered in the sky, formed temporary clouds, and then fell into the cave.
It was hardly a downpour. Still, it was enough to destroy the function of the fiery armor protecting Volcarona.
"Fi!?"
Volcarona seemed thoroughly bewildered by the loss of its trusted shield. A moment ago, it had thought this was its territory, only for everything to change without warning; confusion was inevitable. All it needed to do in this situation was reestablish that advantage, but although wild Pokémon could maintain Max Power longer than a trainer's active Pokémon, they lacked the stamina and energy to use Max Power moves repeatedly. It seemed to have none left, so there was no sign of the shift I had expected.
In that case, it was better to hold Jimeron back so we could counter when Dive struck, rather than needlessly unleash Max Geyser over and over.
"Now, attack with everything you've got!"
All my Pokémon immediately charged forward. To maintain our advantage on Jimeron's battlefield, we needed to save our firepower for Pokémon like Gorky and Grapploct, who could use rock attacks. Jadlan and Kadabra in the rear, along with Rabifoot, who could not fight seriously in the rain, were more cautious, while the other close-range fighters ran at full speed to close the distance.
Volcarona sensed the danger and prepared a technique.
"It has the attitude of a wildcat, but it really is clever."
As soon as Volcarona realized it was raining on the field, its fighting style shifted mainly toward standing dazed. The move called Hurricane was tremendously powerful to begin with; anyone overwhelmed by its fierce winds
