Had the battle been decided?
Staring at the dust and smoke that completely obscured the field, every spectator held their breath.
Before the match began, no one had imagined that Red, who had stumbled his way into the final, would deliver such a spectacular showdown alongside Xia Chi.
So much so that, during Pupitar and Snorlax's fierce brawl, both the host and Geeta had forgotten to commentate, utterly engrossed in the battle.
At last, under everyone's unwavering gaze, the swirling dust cleared.
On the battlefield, already battered beyond recognition by Xia Chi and Red's repeated clashes, the outcome was revealed.
Snorlax lay belly-up, while Pupitar lay unconscious-
Both Pokémon had lost the ability to battle in that final explosion of energy!
"Unbelievable! Xia Chi's Pupitar is down too!"
The host exclaimed in disbelief, "The score is now 2-2, and both competitors have only one Pokémon left! Can Red pull it off?"
Geeta furrowed her brow. "It's certainly possible. Misdreavus did put on an unparalleled display of consecutive one-against-three sweeps in the earlier rounds."
"But in reality, there's little difference between a one-on-one and a one-against-three for Misdreavus. Once the first opponent goes down, the next two become much easier."
Having explained the truth behind Misdreavus's performance, Geeta continued, "And while Pikachu may be an unremarkable Pokémon, this seemingly unremarkable Pokémon has repeatedly worked miracles to stand on this stage. That strength speaks for itself."
[Breeder Blue winning would've been well deserved! Tactical genius Xia Chi winning would make perfect sense! Legendary guy Gladion winning would've been fine too! But what the hell is a Pikachu doing here?]
[Pikachu? Those things are as common as stray dogs along Kanto's roads!]
[It's actually 2-2. Is Xia Chi going to lose?]
[Could happen. Misdreavus is really weak until it drags things out to
