Psy! Duck!
This Water-type Pokémon had once seemed perfectly ordinary to Nessa, even a little adorably dopey.
But after she ran into Xia Chi in a game six months ago, it had become her worst nightmare.
Whenever Nessa had nightmares, they featured that yellow duck hitting her with the obnoxious three-move combo of "Hypnosis, Waterfall, Zen Headbutt"!
It bothered her so much that sometimes, when she encountered a wild Psyduck, she would have Drednaw go bite its forehead a couple of times.
The strategy of using Dudunsparce's "Coil + Baton Pass" to create a Gundam of a Psyduck was still fresh in Nessa's memory.
So the moment Xia Chi reminded her, she understood everything.
"Togekiss is going to use Baton Pass!"
Xia Chi nodded with a smile. "A promising pupil indeed."
[Nessa: Memories I thought were dead have come back to attack me!]
[Nessa: You're never going to let this joke die, are you?]
[Hahahaha, I said back then that people would spend the rest of her life talking about Nessa getting swept three-to-one by a Psyduck.]
[But if it's boosting Special Attack, wouldn't it pass those boosts to a special attacker anyway? That still won't get it past Goodra, right?]
[Why does it feel like Cynthia's about to outplay herself?]
Xia Chi actually had a guess about who Togekiss would pass its boosts to.
But that approach was so different from Cynthia's usual battle style that he wasn't entirely sure.
If he was right, he really had a lot to answer for.
He would watch a little longer and see.
Since neither Pokémon had moved much since entering the field, the enormous distance between them made it difficult for Goodra's Sludge Bomb to hit.
Togekiss dodged the final Sludge Bomb before Goodra fell asleep, then settled in place
