"...Little one, we really are police officers. Look, here's my ID."
Officer Jenny tried hard to make her smile look gentler and more trustworthy as she attempted to reason with the stubborn little bear.
Kubfu said nothing, merely shaking its head, its protective stance leaving no room for argument.
I'm just a country bumpkin from the Isle of Armor. I don't know anything about police or Officer Jenny. I only listen to Xia Chi!
Officer Jenny was at her wits' end with this Legendary Pokémon's refusal to budge, but she dared not get too forceful.
After all, she knew perfectly well that, had this seemingly young but actually formidable little one and its trainer, Xia Chi, who had yet to appear, not intervened in time...
By the time the police arrived, they probably would have been left watching Team Magma's airship disappear into the distance, helpless to do anything but clean up the devastated park.
As Officer Jenny wrestled with her dilemma, a series of footsteps suddenly approached.
She turned to look, delight lighting up the eyes beneath her cap, and blurted out, "Oh, Mr. Xia Chi! You're finally back!"
Xia Chi had no idea why everyone had apparently agreed to start calling him "Mr. Xia Chi."
I thought this was Hoenn, not some mountain city in Donghuang.
Still, odd as it was, the title was a mark of respect and recognition, so Xia Chi soon accepted it without fuss.
"Kubfu, thanks for your hard work. You can leave these bad guys to this police auntie."
He bent down and patted Kubfu's head.
Then he looked up apologetically. "Sorry, Officer Jenny. My partner's a little wary of strangers. These Team Magma members are all yours."
What do you mean, police auntie? Couldn't you call me a police big sister instead?
