"Cynthia is coming?"
Xia Chi was surprised at first, but then remembered that there did seem to be something like that.
Whether in the games or the anime, the Sinnoh Champion did seem to make a habit of visiting Caitlin's villa in Undella Town at a fixed time every year.
That detail had simply lain buried deep in his memory until Caitlin's words brought it back into focus.
Shaking off those stray thoughts, Xia Chi returned to the subject. "I don't know her schedule, and whether Cynthia comes or not has nothing to do with my trip to Undella Town. I'm going there for something else."
He considered for a moment before asking, "Have you heard of the Abyssal Ruins?"
Caitlin's slender eyebrows rose slightly. She shook her head. "No. What sort of place is that?"
Xia Chi had no intention of hiding it. "Another place closely connected to Unova's ancient legends. You're familiar with the region's four Forces of Nature, aren't you?"
"Of course."
Caitlin nodded. As the current de facto leader of the Unova League, she knew the region's legends inside out.
"Tornadus, the god of gales; Thundurus, the god of thunderstorms; Landorus, the god of farmland; and Enamorus, the god of spring. They're legendary beings that appear relatively often in the Unova Region. The League archives even have observation records of their activities from a few years ago. Why? Are the Abyssal Ruins connected to them?"
Xia Chi answered vaguely, "Yes... I'm a little worried that Team Plasma might target them and try to achieve something by controlling them."
He wasn't deliberately trying to keep Caitlin in the dark. He himself had only a vague guess about where the system's "Abyssal Ruins map" would ultimately lead.
For now, he could only offer a broad but reasonable explanation.
