I never expected a move as inaccurate as Sheer Cold to hit my Delphox. If Articuno landed that one-hit knockout move, I really might lose! Cold sweat poured down my back.
Kaiji's serious gaze and dedication to the battle proved he deserved his place among the Kalos Region's current Elite Four. Unfortunately for him, I had to defeat even the Champion.
"Go, Louise! Mega Evolution!" The next battle was Mega Lucario versus Articuno! I had to finish this fast.
"Use Aura Sphere!" But Articuno was faster. "Articuno used Hurricane!" Still unused to the icy battlefield, Louise took the hit! Flying-type moves were effective against Fighting types, and the little chunks of hail battering her only made things worse. To top it off, Louise began lashing out wildly, smashing the icy battlefield and sending chunks flying into the sky. There was dirt underneath after all. So the ice was artificial!
"Louise, calm down!"
Kaiji said calmly, "Ice Pokémon are as sturdy and beautiful as ice itself. Can you show me a beautiful battle?"
I replied confidently, "You're getting better with words, Kaiji. I'll show you!"
His eyes widened. "You're so much like that man."
Louise's tremendous strength sent several huge chunks of ice flying overhead. She punched herself once and finally calmed down.
"Use the ice chunks overhead to get close to Articuno!" Articuno flew higher, and Louise raced after the bird! Now! I struck a Kamehameha pose in sync with Louise. "Aura Sphere!"
"The sky just exploded!" the announcer cried dramatically. "Articuno fell from the sky, but quickly got back up!" Luckily, the hail had just stopped too.
One hit really wasn't enough!
Kaiji gave a competitive grin. "Not bad, Silver!" Then his smile faded, and a hint of killing intent surfaced.
"Articuno, Sheer Cold!" An icy breath swept past
